@peaches1038: @yellowbird: thanks for the info! My parents will be with us so they can help with the luggage, whew! Christkindel market sounds fun! Polar express sounds cool too, I will look into it further.

Glad to hear the el is doable and I don't have to change lines.

My parents haven't flown since the 1990s so it could be an adventure!

Also, only certain el stations will have elevators. I would check and see where you're planning to get off so you don't get stuck trying to lug everything down stairs.

Wicker park has so many amazing restaurants! You will probably want to minimize outdoor time but @peaches1038 had some great ideas. My kids are older but I booked a polar express ride on the train downtown in December and I'm super excited about it. I'm sure there will be lots of holiday lights to look at.

One of my good friends lives in wicker park and she has a 10 month old. I will ask her what there is to do close by. I live in the western suburbs so I'm not totally familiar with things to do indoors in wicker park.

The only issue I see with you taking the el to wicker park is being by yourself with all of your luggage and dd. It will be a big pain of its hard for you to carry everything. Will you have help?

Fun! I live in Chicago and it's a great place to visit. Ohare to wicker park on the el is totally doable. It'll probably take about 30 minutes and you won't even have to change trains since its the blue line. In December we like to go downtown and look at all the window displays on Michigan avenue and stop by the christkindle market. http://www.christkindlmarket.com/
It's also fun to go to Zoo Lights at Lincoln park zoo http://www.lpzoo.org/zoolights-presented-comed-and-powershares-qqq
Other than those things, outside is not very pleasant haha but you could always check out the museums. Wicker park has tons of great restaurants but I'm sure your brother has that handled. We take our 10 month everywhere but I will say that the stroller on the el is kind of a pain so we babywear as much as possible. Or even wear and carry the stroller until you get to where you're going. Hope this helps!!

I'll be traveling with DD to visit my brother in chicago in December. She'll be 9 months then. Any fun things to do? Fwiw, he's near Wicker Park.

I'm also hoping not to bring her car seat and just use the train, is this realistic? Ohare to Wicker Park?

I'll probably bring a pnp, but not sure how well she'll sleep in it. We may have to try to get her used to it before we leave.

I'll also bring a stroller and Boba wrap to make getting around easier. Other ideas?
