Our NICU rule is 48 hours after the end of symptoms. I follow that rule in real life.

@Andrea: I think so, but I also don't think they appreciate the extent of the illness we had!

I agree with wearing a mask and not holding the baby.

@winniebee: yeah I was also gonna suggest a mask but didn't want to seem OTT!! But really, if they are doctors, too, they wouldn't ask you to come unless they thought it was ok?

Did you have the stomach flu? If so, you can be contagious for almost 2 weeks after you've recovered. I'm currently avoiding a friend of mine who had the flu last week! Lots of hand washing is the best way to prevent that, since it's passable via germs in your poop

@Andrea: I'm not sick anymore and neither is Tyler....but OMG I would feel terrible if we were carrying the bug still! I asked my husband to bring surgical masks home with him today so that I could wear one while visiting.

It doesn't sound like you are sick anymore? You could go over and keep your distance/don't hold the baby - just to be safe?

My best friend had her baby on Monday. I would have visited Tuesday (while I had a babysitter) but came down with a stomach bug on Monday night - Tuesday. My 7 month old also had a touch of the bug this week but as of Friday was normal. I feel terrible that I haven't visited yet, but I DO NOT want to get her baby sick. My best friend and her hubby are both doctors and have said "come whenever you are up to it." I know they want us to visit, but I also know how sick I was earlier this week. (It's now Saturday).

How long would you wait to visit?
