We are visiting my dad right now and DH fixed his computer. He always does a checkup when we come to visit. And luckily, because it was full of viruses and malware this time.

Yup me or my hubs deal with all the computers in our families. I often help via remote access though - "Teamviewer" is great for that.

Oh and computer spans to tablets, phones, printers and other hardware.

Yes! But it's my brother who did it all for my family and my husband who does it for his mom. DH's dad is actually pretty proficient so DH rarely has to.

My husband does for his parents, his mom always has some issue going on.

My dad is decent, but my husband also helped him with his network and security cameras. My husband is also into phones, so he's in charge of that for pretty much everyone we know.

Yup, between me and my brother, we are the go to electronics and computer experts to fix things for my parents and my sisters. My brother does know slightly more so sometimes ill ask him a question. I know how to reset and fix a router but beyond that I'm not familiar with it. I am the apple expert while my brother is the pc expert. It is funny that my brother has trouble responding to text messages but once I tell him I'm having a computer problem, he'll immediately respond. Haha.

Oh yeah. My mom's excuse for asking is that I have a degree in electrical engineering and I must know everything technological... except I haven't used that degree nine years and I never learned anything about computers.

Yep. :bummed: Especially for my inlaws when we go visit, which is usually once a year. I'm happy to help and glad to be useful but it's so tedious and such a pain all at the same time.

I just visited my parents and their computers were so slow. I ran scans on their laptops... and it wasn't pretty. I quickly discovered that their computers are riddled with viruses and malware! I think I got them all, but you never know...

Anyway one of my jobs when I visit my parents is to fix up their computers. I usually dedicate at least one full day to running scans and installing new software, setting default browsers, etc.. I was talking to my friend about it too, and she said she does the same thing! I wish it didn't take so much time, so I had more quality time with my parents.

Is this a universal thing - do you fix up your parents' computers when you visit? If not, who manages their computers for them?
