No. Way. They're just... Different.. I don't feel comfortable in their house and they act uncomfortable in mine. Also, they live 12 hours away from us.

no, haven't stayed with them without the hubby. they live in jersey, my parents live in ny, so i used to stay with my parents if i was without the hubs.

@VENICE4504: I share the same sentiments... I don't know if I can even do a few hours alone with my in-laws. They are nice people but we have nothing in common and therefore, nothing much to say to one another.

I never have, but I'd totally be up for staying with my FIL and SMIL! They're awesome (and remind me of my own parents) AND they have a lake house, so yes please!

I definitely would NOT stay with my MIL though. She drives me crazy.

Mine live very far away, so it's unlikely I would ever stay with them w/out my husband, though I would be open to it. I mean, I wouldn't be thrilled, but it's something I would do for my children since I think it's important for them to have a relationship with both sets of grandparents.

I would stay with my in-laws (especially MIL - love her!), but since they live 3000 miles away, I don't know why I'd be going alone without my husband. But if the situation arose, I would go alone with LO.

My inlaws live 20 min away so we don't have overnight stays with them. We do spend holidays/wknds with them up north in their first house, but hubby is always with me.

I'm close with the inlaws (we regularly exchange phone calls) and I visit with them (I work in our hometown) and have dinners with them sans DH all the time. In my mind, they're just the American versions of my Korean parents :P

Yes, I have done it and I don't mind it. I usually just go for a night though, travel by train on Friday, spend Friday night and DH comes on Saturday morning by car. It's great there, it's literally like a kindergarten, they have everything you could need, including a separate room with a crib where the grandchildren sleep.

I love my in-laws--my husband and I even lived with them for about six weeks before our last move--so I feel comfortable with them even when my husband isn't around. It's definitely best when he is there, but I feel good with them.

Depends how long my husband is gone. I love my in-laws and would feel comfortable staying with them but at the end of the day, it's still not my home so it wouldn't be as comfortable. I would, however, have no issues if they came stayed with me while he was gone :)

I haven't and don't think I would want to without my husband. They're nice but we hardly ever see them since we live abroad, so I don't think I would be comfortable visiting them alone.

Yes. I'm really close to both of my in-laws, especially MIL. My relationship with my own mom is pretty rocky, so I appreciate having another "mom figure" to talk to/spend time with. I've stayed with them a number of times when DH was out of town. It doesn't feel weird or awkward, but I get how some people would feel that way about their in-laws because DH definitely would NOT stay with my parents without me!

No, and no! I love my in-laws and I feel like family with them but I can only handle so much of my MIL. I've spent whole afternoons with her and I know that I wouldn't be able to last days, especially without the hubs. Anyway, they live 20 minutes away...

My in laws live close enough that we don't stay over. But I do hang out with my MIL without my hubby sometimes. We do girly things that he wouldn't like. We've been to Jewish women's functions and took an art class together. I love my MIL!

I probably wouldn't, but that is because my inlaws don't allow our dog in their home, and when I go to our hometown I always bring our dog, so I stay with my parents. I refuse to leave the dog with my parents and stay elsewhere, because its rude!

I immediately replied with a "YES! Would love to." And asked when she'd like us to visit.
