I don't think the vitamin d is causing that particular symptom. Good luck!

I think it's definitely the progesterone. I have a d deficiency and only have issues with constipation while on progesterone.

I have a vitamin d deficiency too. I was on 50,000 IU/week until my levels got to a more respectable range and then switched over to a daily OTC dose of D3. I never noticed the D causing any constipation issues. I also take synthroid and that has never been a problem either.

I know the carrier oil in the vitamin d supplements is usually soy or peanut. Do you happen to have a problem with either of those things? Otherwise I would say maybe it the progesterone? I don't have any experience with that one.

Btw my levels raised a lot faster this time, from a much lower vitamin d level by getting some extra time in the sun. Maybe you can try that once your levels come up some and easy off the supplements to see if they really are the issue?

@BrentLee88: have you ever tried probiotics? I've found since using probiotics that even when I don't get enough fiber or water I'm pretty regular.

ETA: Also, sometimes I like to use a digestive aid before dairy and/or protein to help break some of that down because both have been known to stop me up.

@BrentLee88: No, I'm actually saying that you should take a prenatal WITHOUT iron in it, or at least ask your Dr. about it. My gastro Dr. told me to avoid pills with iron since they constipate you.

@BrentLee88: I think that would make a world of difference. Make it a game, like "I will drink 10oz before the hour is up"....set mini goals and you will be surprised how much you can drink.

Does your prenatal vitamin have iron in it? Make sure to take the vitafusion gummies without iron.

I was diagnosed with a D deficiency as well while we were TTC so I added D to my prenatal regimine, but it did not constipate me. In fact, I suffered from severe constipation prior to getting pregnant and saw a Dr. for it and everything and she was the one who told me to take the vitafusion gummies. Colace and metamucil are totally safe to take while TTC and pregnant, and I was taking them at first, but the problem has gone away so now I just keep a bottle of colace pills in my purse just in case.

@BrentLee88: Is it possible that it's the progesterone? I've known progesterone to cause horrible constipation, but I also take a lot of D3 and haven't had a problem with it. Colace and prune juice are safe and recommended by the REs I've gone to!
