I'm taking prenatal vitamins. Should I be taking vitamin d as well in addition to my prenatals?

@travellingbee: wow really?? I had my vD test months ago and it was very very very low <10 so I've been taking vitamin d to boost it. I a,so had my amh test which was low. Could that be my reason for low amh, hope so! Am having my amh tested again around May/June to see.

@travellingbee: my RE tested me for it during the pre-screening for my upcoming donor egg cycle, and I'm now on 4000IU supplements daily to raise my levels. I was deficient!

It's funny- my RE never asked about it but I was taking supplements per my GP because during a routine screening it was low.

My vitamin D was a 7, and my RE put me on 50,000 IU four times a week to quickly bump it up. My AMH was low, but normal. Even the pharmist called and said that was unusual to take that much that often. I continued to take the vitamin d as prescribed when I got my bfp, and my levels are now at 99! My midwives have since told me to lay off, as the highest it can be is 100 :) .

My previous RE put me on a vitamin D regimen immediately. But here we are two years later about to do IVF. I've seen the research and I'm sure it works for a lot of folks!

My RE was insistent that I treat my low vitamin D right away even though my AMH was normal. Given that we got pregnant naturally the second time it's possible it did help.

I have heard of links in infertility and Vit D so I took it when I was TTC. What is interesting is that my AMH was realllllly good considering I've had 2 lap surgeries removing cysts from my ovaries and usually that cuts away healthy tissue resulting in low AMH so my doctors were surprised by my good numbers. So maybe that helped?

I am low on my vitamin D. My experience with it is that when I took it, it would delay my cycles. My first pregnancy ended in miscarriage i was low at that time. When we tried again I made sure I was not low. Although it did cause me to have longer cycles I did get pregnant again and had a successful pregnancy. Not sure if vitamin D defienciency factored in my miscarriage.

Did anyone know this? I am D deficient and have low AMH. I came across a couple of studies from 2012 and then one just published this last December that showed that increasing Vitamin D actually raised AMH and increased fertility! Whoa!
