I did it once and never again. We haven't had any issues. There are some caveats: he was born in the spring and we live in a place that has sun on average 360 days a year. So I didn't feel the need for it. A place that actually has winter I might have felt differently. </p> <p>We also had blood tests done a number of times and Vitamin D levels were never low on those tests so I didn't feel like unnecessary drops. Darker skin=more melonin, more melonin makes it harder for the body to create vitamin D through sun exposure. And living in Michigan, a cooler climate, the babies weren't often exposed to sunlight. She was born in Feb but I think our practice recommends them for all bf babies. They recommend D-Vi-Sol but we didn't like the artificial colors and flavors so we use Baby D Drops.
