@mamabolt: Same here...my prenatals just ran out, and I decided to try the NM Post-Natal...those things are HUGE! Horse pills!

I have kept taking my prenatal viatmins. My doctor recommends using prenatals from 2 years pre-conception of your first baby, until you are finished breastfeeding your last baby. In the winter I add vitamin D, and I take calcium chews when I remember.

@regberadaisy: my pediatrician told me to continue my prenatals, plus take 6000IUs of vitamin D, Choline, and calcium plus magnesium. Oh and fish oil (a specific ratio of DHA to EPA or something) but that seemed to make Liv gassy so I stopped those

@regberadaisy: The Rainbow Lite calcium supplement I take is 500mg. My RB prenatal also has 200mg so another 300mg from food should get you to the recommended daily intake. =)

@HabesBabe: like you, I didn't want to give LO vitD drops, especially when I could only find them artificially flavored!

Right now, since going dairy free especially, I am taking a combo calcium/vit D/magnesium supplement from Trader Joes. When I remember, I also pop a b12 and iron. I generally make sure I am eating a well rounded diet so that I don't have to worry about excess vitamins as much. I was TERRIBLE about taking prenatals and I was pregnant, so clearly it's less important to me now! :)

@Mrs. Jacks: I just think it's not right for us. We don't live in a sunlight-less area, LO gets adequate sun exposure, I'm not vitamin D deficient, and I think that breast milk provides what is needed for my bebe's health. I don't like the idea of giving vitamin drops to a perfectly healthy two month old, so I'd rather take a pill myself and pass on any benefits to her through my milk.

I'm still taking my Rainbow Lite prenatal, Expecta DHA and added in a calcium supplement after I cut out dairy for DD's eczema. Since I'm planning to try to BF for a year and then we will try for a second within 2 years of DD, I'll probably just keep taking them. My nails, unfortunately, have reverted back to pre preggo state aka chippy broken and bad cuticles. Boo.

I still take my prenatal because I know it's soy free (something to check for when vitamin shopping). And I also take a spray vitamin calmag for my calcium. I can't remember what brand my vitamins are but they're pretty natural & you can order them off amazon.... I check in a bit & get back to you. :)

I still take my prenatal since it's for nursing mothers, as well. It's made by Nature's Made - softgels. I'll probably still take it after I'm done nursing as I swear it's made my skin clear up and my nails stronger.

I'm finally finished with my bottle of leftover Pre-natal vitamins. So I'm in the market for new daily vitamins.

Pre-TTC I just took Centrum for women. But I'm wondering if there are others that might be better for a breastfeeding mom? Something with benefits for the baby and perhaps a little extra calcium for me since I'm on a MSPI diet?

Breastfeeding moms, which daily vitamin do you take?
