I used it for three months to get my cycles back on track. I actually used it for the entire cycle for those cycles. The cycle I got pregnant I had stopped taking it. It did help my cycles shorten back to normal lengths. I can't remember how much I was taking but it was a bigger dose than was on the bottle (on recommendation from my naturopath).

It does have an effect on boosting progesterone but if stopped abruptly (ie with pregnancy) it's been linked to miscarriage.

If you're worried about egg health CoQ10 was recommended by my RE, (up to800mg/day) but you might want to look in to progesterone to see if it helps with your spotting.

@peachykeen: I'm holding off on TTC until I can get my cycles back to normal. I'm not even ovulating!
I do have an appointment with my RE coming up so I'll definitely ask about it before I start taking anything.
Thank you for your input!

I'm not sure if you're TTC but after my experience with Vitex I would definitely consult my doctor before using in conjunction with TTC. I took it after having my IUD removed for roughly the same reasons as you. I took it once a day starting CD1 (or very close to it) and stopped taking it once I confirmed ovulation since I'd read it's not really recommended during pregnancy. I did conceive that month on our 4th cycle TTC but we lost the pregnancy at 7.5 weeks. I don't think things were ever right with that pregnancy since I had almost zero symptoms (and tons of symptoms with my other 2 pregnancies).

Given all that, if you're taking it just to regulate your cycle, I think it did that for me! Just wanted to warn you since I've read similar stories since losing that pregnancy.

I have been having really weird cycles ever since a MC in December and am looking for a natural way to get back to normal. I've been breaking out, had random mid-cycle spotting, am moody and am desperate to feel more like myself!
So what were your experiences with Vitex? How much did you take and when?
