we're still doing iffy on the breast feeding so we're doing formula with a little pumped milk as I have it... my LO is 26 days old (we don't know her weight yet because her 1 month apt is next Monday...) and has pretty majorly increased her eating too, though each day is a little different-- if she's sleeping we do not wake her up to eat unless it's been close to 4 hours since her last feeding, which accounts for the occasional lower day... normally she eats 2.5 ounces every 2 and a half to 3 hours, though we do feed her earlier if she gives us hungry signals... and we don't make her finish the bottle if she pulls away.

The past few days have been like this:

Sunday: 26 oz, 12 feedings
Saturday: 15.7 oz, 8 feedings
Friday: 21.9 oz, 10 feedings
Thursday: 19.8 oz, 10 feedings
Weds: 23.6 oz, 12 feedings

Babies should get between 25-35 oz of breast milk in a 24 hour period. I EP'ed for DS1 for a year, and it was nice to be able to track his feeding. He has always been in the 5th percentile (born at 5lbs 13oz). In the beginning it was common for him to drink 30+ oz, and there weren't any issues.

Good job pumping! It's a lot of work and a huge sacrifice.

@shellio: thanks for the response. His hunger cues last for about 90 secs before he starts crying. So I hope we aren't just giving him the bottle too easily...but he always acts excited to eat and rejects the bottle at the end of a feeding when full. I'm just going to go with it and enjoy his weight gain

Great job on the pumping! That is one great thing about EPing - knowing exactly how much LO is getting :) They have a growth spurt around 3 weeks so he might be in that. I wouldn't worry about it at all as long as you guys feel comfortable that you know his hunger cues and he isn't spitting up.

My LO is 19 days old. Between his week 1 and 2 peds appt, he gained 13 oz. He was a little guy at birth- 6lb 3 oz. Thus, I'm very happy w his weight gain. Since I am EPing, it is easy to track his feeding..The pediatrician said around 20 oz is his goal. Today, he drank 30 oz of milk! He isn't spitting up at all...so there is no need for me to worry about this high consumption, right?

(I'm keeping up my own supply ok, pumped 35 oz today)
