I loved it. It requires training and is difficult, but you can usually pick how many "shifts" you cover, and the full time advocates really appreciate the help. They also often have a need for volunteers in shelters, to come help clean/ cook dinner, what ever. My husband and I did a pizza night at a DVD shelter where the kids could help make their own pizzas. I found an art program that works to give under priveledged children outlets for their creativity (murals, sculptures, etec). I try to volunteer every other month or so at their fundraisers. Usually doing fun things like serving beer (where a portion of all beer proceeds are given to the organization), teaching a craft, or handing out flyers at festivals to raise awareness of the orginization.
