@MrsRcCar: @2littlepumpkins: Thanks for checking in! He was fine by mid-morning and I am 100% sure it was a bug because it hit DH and me this afternoon at the same exact time. Which is awesome when you're pregnant with 2 little guys to take care of.

@skipra: I would go to the Dr's office this morning. When I had a concussion as a young kid (about 4/5 years old) I started vomiting after a couple of hours too (6h or so). So I would get it checked out. Better safe than sorry.

I would have said within 24 hours. Calling was the right move. I'd probably take him in in the morning,
Too. You don't want to mess with that even if the nurse said it was probably a bug...

@2littlepumpkins: oh man that sounds miserable. I hope everyone gets healthy soon!

I did finally talk to a nurse and she said because of the amount of time it's probably a bug that "everyone has right now" that does not present with fever. He seems to be resting finally and hasn't vomited in a little while.

I really appreciate the support! Normally I would not freak out so much over a stomach bug but the timing with his fall is scary!

I think calling was right too.

I would guess illness at this point, but better safe than sorry.

Fwiw, my dd's last illness was a stuffy nose/sounded like the start of a cold, then turned into a nasty virus and for her it involved vomiting too. For ds, dh, and I it didn't involve vomiting. We all developed fevers for a couple days but it wasn't necessarily the first symptom, at least not for the kids. Dd's then turned into pneumonia, and both kids got pink eye. They're at the start of another cold now and I keep feeling dd's head for another fever because the last time seemed so weird.

I was told at the hospital when my son fell to monitor him for 48 hours after the incident and if he vomits more than two times within the 48 hours to take him to the hospital. They also told me that the first six hours are the most critical to keep a eye out on his behavior. If it were me I would call the hospital and speak to one of the nurses and see if they think it's due to his cold or the fall. Hope your LO gets feels better soon.

I think calling was the right thing. For what it's worth when the stomach virus went through our house nobody had a fever. Just a few hours of vomiting over and over again.

Thanks for not thinking I'm crazy for being concerned. I am just waiting to hear back from the doctor.

I remembered my friend telling me last week that her LO who is in his class was up one night throwing up but otherwise fine. I guess it's possible that it's a bug making its way through the class but I still want to at least talk to a doctor or nurse. Ah I wish they would call back already!

I'm usually pretty lax about these things, but I would take him in for that. The fact that he continues to throw up and there aren't other symptoms would really worry me.

Does anyone know if there is a head injury how long after would LO start vomiting? Is it immediate?

My LO is 3 and earlier today took a pretty big fall off a swing. He landed face first on the ground (wood chips). He cried for like a minute and had a red spot on the side of his forehead but said he was fine and ran off to continue playing. He doesn't even have a bump but also didn't hit any particular hard surface.

He also started with some mild cold symptoms today. Mostly just a few sneezes and telling me he was getting a cold. Otherwise he has been pretty normal all day and eating and drinking just fine. Maybe a little crabby but nothing really out of the ordinary.

A little while ago he woke up and had thrown up all over his bed and continues to every 5-10 minutes. He doesn't have a fever at all. He fell about 11-12 hours before the vomiting.

I am trying to figure out if it's illness related or an injury and if I should rush him to the hospital. The thing that worries me is lack of fever. Obviously I should check with the doctor but it being off hours it will be a while before I can speak to one. Just wondering if I could get a few other opinions too. Thank you!
