@ Amber: I'm using the BD from Amazon too. I'm happy with it!

Thanks for all of the ideas/input, ladies! I think the only thing wackadoo about my chart this month is ME. If I'd chilled out and waited 3 days I would have seen that it's totally fine.

@Bykes187 I had a good one once from CVS- never failed me (it was purple) when I got pregnant with Piper. THEN when I went off BC this time I tried it and it was dead, so I got a new one (also purple, think it'd work the same, right?) and it SUUUUCKED. So I got the BD BBT on Amazon and it's awesome. Takes 10 seconds max (sometimes quicker if you're REALLY still). I need it to be quick because I have wicked bad allergies and I can't breathe through my nose most mornings. It also has a backlight when it turns on (then shuts off during temping) and when you turn it off it lights up again to see your temp. It does beep every now and then to let you know it's working, but you can put your thumb/finger over it to buffer it.

It was like, 9 dollars?

@Amber -- I HATE my CVS thermometer. I had one before Chickie (fat lot of good it did me) which then died by the time I wanted to start temping again, and so stupid me went out and bought another one. /duh It takes for-frickin'-ever to register, which sucks when I need to delay my early morning potty break till it beeps.

Ugh, my thermometer was going up then down then back up to the first temp and so on for A LONG TIME. I ended up buying a new thermometer. The CVS/Target ones sucked!!

There are so many things that could throw off a temp- alcohol the night before always does it for me, as does if I wake up early and am stirring around before I temp (checking phone etc). you could email it to me too if you like :D but fertility friend makes it easy to share (and email me the link if you don't want it out there for the world to see). I'd be willing to give it a look.

Start putting it online! I did pen and paper for 3 months and now I have no idea why. It's awesome to be able to compare your charts to eachother.

Any alcohol, change in outside temp, going to bed with your hair wet etc?:

Is your thermometer working properly? Not old or in need of a new battery? I'm sorry, another obvious question.

Off the top of my head, it could be something to do with diet?? Any changes since last month?

@ Parkerhaus: I'm using a pen and paper chart - I could email it to you :)

Funny thing is, I'm totally consistent, just like last month, and take my temp literally within a 10 minute window everyday. No variation.

@seashell can you link to your charts? Are you using Fertility Friend? Similar to what bykes187 said you might want to note nights where you didn't get a lot of sleep or where you woke up late on your chart so that when you are looking at your trends you can differentiate those wackadoo temps.

I'd start with the stupid "have you tried rebooting it?" level of troubleshooting. :)
Do you have a consistent bedtime? Consistent waking time? Are you getting up in the night? Are you moving a lot before temp time (I will sometimes roll quite a bit in the last stage of half-sleep before I get it together enough to temp)? Any middle-of-the-night bed activities? These things throw my temps off.
HTH!

I just started charting last month. My first chart was perfect, couldn't be easier to read. This month, it's totally wackadoo. My temp keeps dipping and spiking with no real consistency. I feel like I know when I ovulated (CM, date estimate, positive OPK), but I've read the only guaranteed indication of ovulation is a temp spike. Thoughts? Experiences?
