@chopsuey119: nope... all the pedi said was "rashes are a pain in the butt." haha. I love our pediatrician. He's really smart and educated and well-spoken and all, but he's also a dad of four young ones and it's just like talking to the most experienced dad ever.

He also said "if you don't want to be scientific about it, just put on this steroid cream AND the antibiotic cream at the same time." It'll be good to go back and tell him the steroid cream worked immediately... maybe then he'll have more of an explanation of what might have caused it. Wagon Jr. has pretty sensitive skin like his dad so it really could have been anything... it definitely was exacerbated by heat, because it would turn bright red during baths and while we were outside.... also, his bibs are all pretty crusty around the neck area (even freshly washed) so I should probably throw them all out and buy a new round.

So Wagon Jr. has had a mysterious, red, raised rash on the underside of his chin for almost 2 months. Some nights he'd pick at it during the night and we'd find blood stains on his sheets :(

We tried everything: vaseline, aquaphor/eucerin, eczema care cream, hydrocortizone/idoquinol, clotrimazole, then finally a prescribed antibiotic cream, and when that didn't work, a prescribed anti-fungal cream which we stuck to for 10 days. NOTHING did anything to change it. Finally the pediatrician prescribed a steroid cream and after the FIRST application it was almost gone!! After 2.5 days all that's left is a little bit of an open wound from the last time he scratched at it. I am SO RELIEVED.

I know the steroid cream is really strong but it's the first thing to have any sort of real effect on it. Man. I kind of wish we had gone straight to the 'roids but obviously that's really aggressive :)
