I'm 2 months in to returning from maternity leave and working part-time from home. So far it's going well. My mom or mother-in-law come over to watch her, And on the days that they can't do it we Part time nanny who my daughter loves. Our house isn't big so the noise can be distracting, but it's not so bad in less she's really fighting a nap for them. But best of all I can go out and give her some cuddles when I get breaks!

I work at home on Mondays and Fridays ... my mom comes to watch DS. She usually brings her laptop for when DS naps, or a book, or just watches TV. I've caught her napping on my couch a few times as well :) It works out well, though I'm sure she gets bored (she's never mentioned it).

It was super easy when DS was an infant. My mom would come over most days. And I'd just lock up in the den.

He's 22 months now and my mom only comes over on my slow days because DS will interrupt me all day long. DH or I usually drop him off at my mom's most days now.

Bumping -- any other experiences? Looking at hiring a PT nanny while I WAHM. A little nervous that I won't be terribly productive when I can hear the chaos.

So, I'm not working, but I am in grad school and I have designated homework days (well, it's my summer break now but, I did). My mil comes over and I completely hid away. Like, LO does not even realize I am home. I think that is crucial.
My mil goes about her business as usual (playing, baths, stroller walks, lunch) and if LO goes to sleep, she watches tv, gets on her iPad, naps in our guest room, makes herself (and me!) some coffee. It's only 3 hours for us, so it works out great.
Just make sure your mom doesn't think it is hang-out with YOU time when LO is asleep.
That's another reason why I stayed in the office and didn't come out. I wanted to really give the effect that I was "at work."

I WAH and currently have a babysitter two mornings per week for 3 hours. My daughter doesn't take a bottle so I feed and change her right before the sitter comes over, then they go out for a walk. She tries to go for at least 2 hours and DD is usually pretty happy or will nap. We've been really lucky so far and haven't had any rain the days the sitter is here so I'm not sure what it will be like when they are home when I home.

I've done something similar and my mom sometimes came over with a book to read while DS slept. They also went on lots of walls and he slept in the stroller. The one problem was that if DS saw me glued to a computer, he cried and wanted to play with BOTH of us. So if you can, I'd recommend having a work area where your baby can't see you.

What does a typical day look like and how is it working out?

I'm returning to work in August and am only going to work PT. My mom will likely come over three or four days a week for 3-4 hours a day. I can't see any major issues except that if LO is napping a few times in that stretch (she's a cat napper, so we have a lot of naps) then my mom might be bored! Also, at 12 weeks she still refuses the bottle so I might have to take breaks to feed (not a huge deal). Other than those issues I think it will work out nicely, but I'm still nervous!

Any advice for making it work? Things I'm forgetting?
