I'd give it a weekend at home and see how it goes. You might end up with a potty trained child!

I would try but also be prepared for her to lose interest. My daughter was super interested at 19 months and would tell us (at home) for both. About 2-3 weeks later, she wanted nothing to do with it. She is 26m now and she goes only when we put her on there. You never know though, so I'd give it a shot so you don't miss out on what could be a good opportunity. (My mom had my sister and I daytime trained around 19m, so worth a shot!)

So let me start by saying that I unofficially decided I wouldn't start potty training my currently 20 month old DD until she was around 2.5 years old.

Now, seemingly out of nowhere, she has a lot of interest in using the potty. We have had a small potty in our upstairs bathroom for awhile and have had a few flukes, but this week she pointed to it and got excited. I encouraged her to pull her pants down and took her diaper off for her and she immediately sat and peed. We have now done this before and after daycare and before baths for 3 days with complete success (no poops yet).

Not sure where to go from here. Should I just go for it? Or just let her casually use the potty at routine times as she has been doing lately. Part of my reason for delaying is that even though she tells me when she poops in her diaper, I am not sure at 20 mos, that she will be able to effectively communicate when she needs to go. I also don't want to live in the bathroom (public especially, but also in our house) to avoid accidents. Also don't want to miss a window if she is ready and excited to make the transition!
