@Mae: Yeah I know what you mean. DH always says to me "oh he's yawning, he's going to fall asleep soon!" And I look at him like he's crazy. J gets so mad if I don't facilitate sleep like, all the time, but also feedings at the right time. If things get off schedule and we put him to bed not having just been fed all hell breaks loose.

I do. But I think Fia is not wholly typical in that she has high sleep needs, is basically incapable of being awake more than 1.5 hours without losing her shit, and will only eat right before a nap. So I'm constantly thinking ahead like... okay she needs to eat x more times today, which means she needs x number of naps, and she has to be awake at least 1 hour, but not more than 1.5 hours between naps... so I can't really just let her sleep all day or she doesn't eat enough and can end up at the end of the day waking up at an awkward time with say 2.5 hrs until bed time and then I'm screwed because she'll be insanely angry at me and cranky :)

I would let him sleep unless you are scared he's getting days/nights mixed up meaning an up all night kind of night!

I usually would just enjoy it unless I was worried that it was going to make her bedtime really really late.

It depends whether you want him to have a fairly consistent schedule. If so, you can start gently encouraging a schedule at any age. But if that doesnt matter to you yet, i would just enjoy it :) i would also say, it depends on whether or not sleeping too long will create a domino effect, like a much later bedtime or not getting enough to eat during the day and more night wakings.

@spaniellove: At that age, we were told to allow our baby to make her own schedule. We started gentle sleep training around 6 months, and we don't let her sleep more than 2 hours at a time, and we keep awake time less than 2.5 hours at a time. I think you can do sleep training as early as 4 months (or not, obviously, it's what works best with your family).

I'd only wake him up if weight gain is an issue. Otherwise enjoy the break!

I say enjoy it. Unless you've got someplace to be. That's what I wish I had learned earlier. They'll wake up if they get hungry. They're not stupid ;)

So sometimes LO's naps are super short, and sometimes they're reeeeaaalllly long. Like now he's going 4.5 hours since his last feeding. Do I wake him? Just enjoy it? He's 3 months and gets 5 oz at each feeding.
