@Foodnerd81: The only reason I would think of it is that my LO doesn't like the taste of Infant Motrin. She's normally good at taking medicine, but she coughs every time she takes Infant Motrin and will sometimes turn her head away. But when we started the Childrens Motrin, with a store/generic brand, she stopped doing that and loves it just as much as everything else.

@erinbaderin: I do hold her a good 10-15 minutes after she falls asleep. This helps with being able to lay her down but then she still wakes up 15 minutes later. I'm sure it's teeth now though (combined with everything else). Ugh.

@gingerbebe: I actually have awful teeth pain from my sinuses right now too.

I'm going to do the ibuprofen tonight. She will be six months on Friday. And we were just at the doctor on Friday so I know her exact weight.

@looch: this is exactly what I'm trying. That way it seems like only a quarter gets sprayed out at me. @magnoliamama42: I hadn't really considered that she would react to different brands and flavors. My older one has always loved medicine. Never realized that was making it easy on me!

Tylenol comes in different flavors (cherry and grape), and even the store brands can taste different. The great thing about Tylenol is that the Infants Tylenol is EXACTLY the same as Childrens Tylenol. So if she won't take the Infants, try the Childrens in a store brand and the taste might be just different enough that she'll drink it.

Also seconding the Motrin. If y'all are really struggling, you may want to call your doc and get the go ahead to start this week.

(Keep in mind that, unlike Tylenol, Infant Motrin is not the same as Children's Motrin - it is a different concentration.)

Medicine: using a syinge, squirt the medicine into her mouth, back in the cheek area, not in the direction of the throat. Then blow in her face. That will cause her to swallow the medicine.

Sinus pressure causes toothaches in adults - if she's sick and teething, laying down with the pressure could be making the teething worse. Definitely go with Advil - Tylenol did nothing.

It could be an effect of the sleep cycles - I've read that they're in light sleep phases at 5, 10, 20, and then every 45 minutes. Could you try holding her once she's asleep for 15 minutes until she's good and out before putting her down?

@kitty: she was in te rock and okay so already elevated. But she doesn't like being swaddled in there and the sleep suit won't fit in it. Trying the pnp with the head elevated if she ever falls asleep now.

@sapphire: she will be six months next week, then I'll def try ibuprofen.

She's never over the pack and dislikes the bottle but maybe the syringe through paci will help.

I'm fairly sure it's teeth- can feel the swelling now.

My LO really hates the taste of Tyelenol but takes ibuprofen no problem - now that your LO is over 6 months you could try that. Overall wake ups are common when sick...obviously not the time for sleep training, but we found past 5-6 months our LO really needed to put herself to sleep rather than be put down already asleep.

It could be because lying down causes extra blood flow and pressure in the head, which exacerbates the pain of both congestion and teething. Possibly elevating the crib head a little could help.

We used a bottle nipple for medicine when he was younger but now at 7 months I just put a little bit at a time into the side of his cheek. Sometimes I'll rub gently under his chin to remind him to swallow.
He also will wake up after 15-30 minutes and usually I just have to put in his binky and shush him and he will go back to sleep. He's been doing this for about a month, so I'm not sure what's causing it. He just got both his bottom teeth within the last 2 weeks.

Tip for medicine: cut the end off of a soothie paci and stick the syringe through the hole.

Sleep wise, I'm not sure exactly but LO was also just sick and it helped to either put him In the RNP with a humidifier right next to him or steam him in the bathroom and then put him down in the RNP. We used the RNP while he was sick because the slant helped him not cough as much.

My 6 month old has been sick- yucky cold with congestion, cough, and lucky us, conjunctivitis. On top of that in pretty certain she is getting some teeth in. Not surprisingly, sleep has been pretty awful. But specifically, even after we get her to sleep by bouncing her (if I nurse to sleep, lately she gags on snot I think and projectile spit ups), she wakes up about ten minutes or so later crying. Wondering if anyone has experienced that and figured out why?

She used to sleep in a Merlin's sleep suit in a pack and play, but we have put her back in a swaddle and the rock and play. I've given her Tylenol but she tends to spit a lot of it out so not sure how much she gets.

I pretty much figure her sleep will be crap until she is over this sickness but I'd love to know why this specifically is happening.

Also tips to get her to swallow the Tylenol? My older LO has always loved medicine so I never had to struggle.
