Another option is to temp twice - when you "stir" and when you actually wake up. Compare the two times/numbers to see how different or accurate they look!

I did some experimenting to figure out what changed my temps more-- and I think I found it was the time of morning more so than hours slept, unless it was a really short amount of time sleeping. All you can do is try it and see how your chart looks. I think it really does depend on how awake you are though.

@pui: I've been thinking the same thing! My first month charting I temped in the a.m. when it was time to get up & my chart looked beautiful. Then I started waking more so I starting temping after my longest sleep period, the 2 following charts look totally wonky... Then again I also had an 18 day cycle then a 38 day cycle so I was confused. :/

I'm kind of struggling with this now too... and I think I have determined that the time I take my temperature is more important than how many hours I've been fully asleep before temping (at least for me), as long as I didn't get up and walk around when I "woke up" early.

We recently changed our sleeping arrangements so I no longer having to get out of bed if/when P wakes up. I do still wake, well more like stir, quite a bit through the night but it usually entails just rolling over, latching P, and going back to sleep.

I'm wondering if since I'm not actually "getting up" if I can start temping when I actually get up at 7:45-8 & it be an accurate temp? I would think since I'm not really moving around it should be fine right?
