@MamaG: Our sandals are closed toe for the most part. They are just very strappy. So I don't worry much about them.

I'm seeing a couple of suggestions that are sandals. I saw some really cute sandals, but I was worried that she should start out in close toed shoes.

LO is 10.5 months old and really cruising. She is starting to get brave and let go of things and stand on occassion for a few seconds at a time.

She has a tendancy to walk on her toes or to turn her feet under (think the top of her foot touching the floor - it looks ridiculously painful to me).

I live in sandals during the summer, and I hate the idea of closed toed shoes and socks for her in this heat, but sandals just seemed like the wrong idea.

Tell me how you made them work!

charlie had slipper socks, then it got cold before he really started walking so we put regular shoes on him. we went straight to converse, new balance and adidas. i don't think it makes a huge difference what shoes they wear honestly.

but we like stride rite shoes because they come in wide and charlie has chubby feet. pedipeds are super comfy, but they ran a little narrow for charlie.

Each of our parents got her stride rights, which she really likes, but her favorite right now is a pair of sandals I got from target. Whenever we go outside she has shoes on now and probably half the time in the house. She LOVES shoes.

We love our fisherman sandals from Payless. He now wears shoes all the time. He asks to put these shoes on.

For those of you that have LO's that are already walking, when did you start routinely putting shoes on your LO? And what shoes did you use as your first walking shoes? Stride Rite is what I hear recommended over and over by grandparents.
