@Alivoo01: I LOVE it! I don't think they have that style anymore. And even if they did, they don't seem to have 12M for all the cute stuff. Boo! Oh well.

@Alivoo01: @Adira: I was told even those Mircrofleece body suits aren't safe for the car seat...I'm at a loss on what to do cause that's what I was planning on using for our babies this winter. The gal at the car seat safety place told us to put them in regular warmer clothes, caps, mittens, booties. After they are buckled in we are suppose to tuck a warm blanket over them as well as a car seat canopy.

@rattles: Whoops, I'll edit. Should have been more specific. In the car, we have the kind that stretches over the car seat, with the fleece blanket across the front - the shower cap one you're talking about, I think. I don't know the name, but it's JJ Cole, so I assumed they were all called Bundle Me. We use the traditional, sleeping bag style in our jogger.

@deerylou: Actually, Bundle Mes are not considered safe to use in car seats for the same reason as puffy coats! I didn't know it as a new mom, so it's just a PSA, not a judgment. The shower cap style ones are fine, but the sleeping bag style that goes behind/under the baby aren't.

You can always use a Bundle Me (shower cap kind) in a car seat. We do that, on occasion. Patagonia has some nice (warm, but not too puffy) jackets, so I would look there, in addition to North Face. Sporting good stores might have decent knock offs/generic, too!

I do a fleece coat in the warmed-up van and keep his heavy coat in there in case we would break down or need a heavier coat or something.

It's super warm, but not sure if it's too thick for car seat saftey.

It's not super freezing here, but we do a wool coat over other layers. The wool is warm, but not puffy, so it's perfect for the carseat.

Thanks everyone!! I think I might order a Columbia fleece suit for when we might be out and about and then I'll get a warm thin jacket for other times! I do plan to still just use a blanket mostly, but now that we're switching to a convertible car seat and won't be able to just carry him in and out of places in his infant car seat, I figured I needed to get him a real jacket!

Honestly, so far I've just put her in a hoodie over 2 long sleeved shirts, and then done blankets and a wool hat, and warmed up the car. I bring her fleece suit and dress her in wool if we are going to be doing anything besides running from the car to a house. If we are playing outside we have a down snowsuit, and for the stroller I have a down, fleece lined sleeping bag and the weather shield (bob).

She stays really warm in her car seat. My dilemma right now is the grocery store! I guess I have to out her in the fleece suit for that, but it's a pain!

I always recommend the north face perrito jacket. I am in Michigan and it is plenty warm. The trick though is to unzip when you get to the car and then rezip around the buckles. You can tell if the jacket is safe by putting him in without a coat and getting the straps to the appropriate tightness, take him out, put on the coat and see if it still fits without moving the straps. With that jacket I have never had an issue.

I asked this recently too :-). I ended up ordering this jacket.
http://www.amazon.com/Columbia-Baby-Boys-Infant-Steens-Overlay/dp/B00D076UIQ/ref=pd_sim_a_18
It was reasonably priced and hopefully is warm enough. We'll keep a thick coat in each car too in case were going to be walking around outside or ever got stuck or something. We'll also have some blankets in the car for extra cold days. We're in Upstate NY in a cold/ snowy area. The solution isn't perfect but hopefully it will keep him warm enough and safe.

I feel like someone's already asked about this, but I can't find the post, so here's me asking the same question!

Anyone know of a good WARM (we live in New England and it gets really COLD here) car-seat friendly jacket? I have a fleece one, but it seems so thin and I don't think it will keep Xander all that warm.

Help!
