@travelingbrit: I had put that on her wall, so that's why you didn't see it. The bay was sooo great! It was defintely a highlight. If we went back to PR, we would just do Vieques and Culebra and skip the main land completely.

@Mrs. Blue: Oh I missed that, sorry! I really wanted to check out the bioluminescent bay when I was there but didn't have enough time to get there.
That would be fun!

@travelingbrit: My nearest airport is DFW. The map is a little deceiving since it states the lowest rate for the month, but for my travels days, it's exponetially higher. What a tease! Ha!

@travelingbrit: My PR recommendation was really the island of Vieques, which I think is soooo different than the mainland!

@Alivoo01: Wow those prices are crazy! Must be because of Christmas week. It's usually about $300-$400 to get to South America in our winter (non-holiday).

Which is your nearest airport?

I personally didn't love Puerto Rico. El Yunque rainforest was nice to explore, but the rest of Puerto Rico that I saw, seemed like a dirty version of Miami. Maybe I didn't go to the right places?

I've heard Panama is awesome though!

Cozumel! We went at Easter time and it was about $3000 for 8 days, 7 nights at an all-inclusive and that included our airfare. There's tons to do on that little island as well.

@shopaholic: Airfare to Belize is currently $1.111/person Boo!! I'd love to go here one day because I really want to scuba dive in the blue hole!! I'm looking into Panama. So far the airfare is reasonable, just need to see how hotels fare.

@MrsCastro: I'm a HUGE fan of Hawaii!!! Like obsessively love Hawaii. I decked out my room in HS in Hawaiian theme. Ha! We also went there for our honeymoon so it may be out of the question. However, this would be a great backup should we need to stay domestic!

@Mrs. Blue: Thanks for your spill on Puerto Rico!! I'm looking into it along with Panama! I'll unload the info on the hubby tonight and if he likes Panama, I'll definitely get back to you and your hubby on more info!! Thanks for being so helpful!!!!

@travelingbrit: Flights to Nicaragua, Peru, and Columbia are hovering around $1,000/person. Boo! Those didn't even come to mind! I'll definitely add them to my list of places to go to in the future though! Thanks!

@DigAPony: Hm. We may have to look into these!

@littlebug: We did look up St. Thomas but like other places, the airfare was a lil steep. I wonder why that is gah!!!

@lawbee11: Flight to Roatan is currently $1,940/person. Boo!! This is another gorgeous place that is on my bucket list to go scuba diving at! Thanks for the suggestion!

I agree with Belize. Not sure of the prices, but I've known a few people who've gone and loved it.

A few years ago my family went to St. Thomas. There's a fair amount to do on the island itself, like snorkeling and stuff, plus you can take boat trips over to St. John to explore there, and we also took a boat trip to Virgin Gorda, which was awesome.

I'd look into all-inclusives on the Caribbean side of Mexico (Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, etc.).

From what I've heard, Nicaragua is the "new" Costa Rica.
Lot's of adventure and good weather.

Latin America flights are fairly inexpensive right now. Peru and Columbia are good options.

We're going back to the Cancun/Playa Mujeres area this year..there is definitely stuff to do if you want to, but i'm a "sit on the beach and read a book" kind of girl when I get away. It's nice and warm, too, but not too hot.

I've already offered my spill on the awesomeness of Puerto Rico, but Mexico is also one of our favorite destinations since it's cheap flights from Texas. Cancun was really safe when we went a year ago; we had no problems and would definitely go back. DH has also been to Panama and loved it, so if you decide to go there let me know, and I'll get his recommendations!

Have you looked into Belize or Panama? I would also suggest Costa Rica, but I'm not sure of the prices? My sister went to Belize and did it for dirt cheap. After seeing some pics of it and seeing it on The Bachelorette, I'm dying to go there someday too!

Alrighty ladies, I need your help!! Hubby and I work 7 days a week all year round except for 1 week a year where we go on vacation. That's Christmas Day to New Year's day. We also go out of the country to make the most out of our rare time off, and we alternate each year between a cold location and a warm location. This year is warm!

However, we have zero ideas where to go that doesn't cost us an arm and a leg. We went to Jamaica 2 years ago so that's out of consideration. We looked at possibilities in Costa Rica and only rooms available are $200+ a night. We need to book something quick before prices sky rocket. So lay it on me ladies, give me some suggestions on awesome warm international places to go that don't cost $2,000+ per person for airfare (e.g. Australia, Thailand, Cambodia, etc.).

We're also adventurous people so no sit on the beach and do nada, please.
