So easy. I think of all the stupid stuff I did with LO1, I didn't know what I didn't know. I've been a cow with LO2 and no supply or latch issues.

yes yes and yes!!! with my first was terrible...cracked nipples, bleeding two round of mastitis. I gave up. With my second I thought that I would give it a try but I would not ruin again the first months of my baby's life because I wanted to breastfeed. Either it would work or I would just give him formula. I met before giving birth with an amazing LC she taught me so much about different positions, latch and she suggested the following things to help preventing all the problems I had with my first :
-switch position at every feed,
- use a boppy pillow to help you hold your baby
- RELAX
- use Silverette cups to naturally prevent soreness and infections
- use the right size shields if you are pumping
- don't stress too much you are already a great mum for trying!!!!
result: I nursed for a year!!!!! and plan on nursing my next little one for even longer!

I had problems breastfeeding DS1 and EP'ed for a year. DS2 made breastfeeding a complete dream, and we are going strong at a year.

SO much easier. DD1 had a posterior tongue tie and an upper lip tie, that went undiagnosed and untreated until 6 months. So, I cracked and bled, she bit me, arched, flailed, screamed and hated nursing. My supply tanked. It was awful. I did everything I could, multiple IBCLC appointments, having her ties revised, taking all the tinctures, eating all the foods, etc., and dried up at 8.5 months despite all of that.

DD2--a breeze, except for loving nursing so much that I was subject to multiple marathon cluster feeds at the start, which were exhausting! She's still going strong at 10.5 months old. I was terrified I wouldn't have a good enough milk supply, and I have had zero issues--in fact, I have a deep freezer full of extra milk and she hasn't ever taken a bottle.

Unfortunately no. I thought bf'ing was hard the first time, but I really dislike it now. With #2 it was incredibly painful for the first two weeks and he now has on and off latch issues. Plus, he eats so much more and it's really hard for me to save any to leave the house. I've been staying up until midnight to pump every night because it's the only way I can get a decent amount without him waking up and wanting to eat it all. My almost 2 year old also makes it harder. If I make it to 14- months like I did with #1 it may be a miracle (currently 4- months in). Hoping you have none of this fun!

Not pregnant with#2 yet but hopeful that it's possible breast feeding or pumping is better the 2nd time around.

Yes, sooo much better. The initial hurdle of establishing a good latch, the level/time of pain, etc was way easier. I got a couple blocked ducts and one round of mastitis with LO1 but none so far with LO2 at 9 months.

We're only 3 weeks in, but YES. His latch is much better so the pain went away much faster.

MUCH easier. I had a terrible time with LO1, excruciating pain, tongue tie, cracked/damaged nipples. It didn't get better until he was 3.5 months. He was also a frequent/comfort/long nurser until about 6-8 months, so I was constantly battling the problems.

With LO2, not a single problem! Zero! She just turned 1 and we are now slowly weaning. She is also not a boob baby. She never nursed for more than 10 minutes at a time, so it has also been more freeing.

Yes in that I knew what to expect. But also no because Rose has the same exact shallow latch issues as Lucy did. We made it a few more days before I had to tap-out and start using the nipple shields again. Oh well :/

Yes, physically. I had no pain whatsoever second time around. I think it was a combo of my nipples being used to it and me knowing what to do. I do find it a lot more difficult to focus on nursing with LO1 around though so many times I feel like LO2 is not getting enough. Dealing with LO1 is by far my biggest breastfeeding challenge this time around.

I would say it was easier from the perspective that I had experience and knew what the latch should look like, what positions were easiest for me, tricks for getting LO to latch, and all about massaging milk to clear the ducts during the first couple of weeks. So I felt more knowledgeable and comfortable with the parts I could control.

But I would imagine that there is also a lot dependent on each LO and their quirks. Luckily both of my LOs have been good little nursers & very similar.

we had a lot of latch issues with DD, which led to seriously cracked nipples, mastitis and thrush. and many, many blocked ducts along the way, and a second case of mastitis around 8 months.

I'm hoping this time will be easier - DD2 won't know how to nurse, but I have some experience behind me now!
