Lol. You already know, but...
DS was less than 3 water breaking to my arms.
Dd was less than one hour. From actual painful contractions to arms about 20 minutes. Didn't make it to hospital.

@sorrycharlie: I'm right there with you on being terrified by this poll. I'm 39 wks with #2, and #1 was born more than 3 weeks early with sort of a weird situation (water broke, but I never really went into full blown labor on my own, and had to be induced). I'm having trouble sleeping right now because I'm as anxious about not recognizing labor for what it is as I would be if this were my first delivery, and on top of that I'm afraid of how fast things might progress if I DON'T realize right away what's happening.

@sorrycharlie: I was supposed to go right up but they called the wrong midwife?! So instead they wheeled me into triage when I said I was pushing. My midwife managed to get there and they rushed me up to the room. I delivered him on the bed I came up in lol. I think I was able to be rushed because it was the middle of the night and it seemed dead.

. @googly-eyes: It was close! They didn't really do much. My midwife group pre-registers us so at least I didn't have that issue. I answered the questions they needed after I delivered.

SO MUCH FASTER!

My second DD was born less than 2 hours after getting to the hospital (6 hours after my first contraction).

My first was 16 hours total.

LO#1 was 9 hours,
LO#2 was 3 hours...

thankfully I was already at the hospital (checked in, IV started, lying around in bed!) waiting to get induced for #2 (2 weeks late!) when labour began by itself.

For #3 I'm going to camp out in the hospital parking lot the SECOND I feel any kind of faint cramping. haha

@cheesetomywhine: omg! did they get you right upstairs or did you deliver in triage? they assumed I was being a whiny "FTM" but when they checked me in triage they were like, oh shit. they had left me in that stupid hallway for 45 minutes. atl east, that's what i remember it feeling like!! I was a 6 when they checked me in triage and they immediately wheeled me upstairs and I was fully dilated when I got into the bed. UGH. I am so terrified they'll leave me in triage again. and i showed up with a broken water!

LO1 - about 10 hours start to finish with an epidural.

LO2 - my water broke but I didn't have any contractions until about 5 hours later after the midwife gave me an enema. Once the contractions started the whole L&D was only 45 minutes!

Much faster. With #1 labor was 8 hours. I arrived at 8-9cm. Three of those hours were pushing.

With #2 I had a slow leak. Contractions started six hours later. Was in active labor (when contractions started) for two hours. Had him 6 minutes after arriving at hospital. DH is so worried what will happen for #3 lol.

I only have 1, but my SIL has 3. Her first, they arrived at the hospital at 10 and my niece was born at 10:28! Her second, her water broke around 9am and my nephew was born around 2pm. Her third, they headed to the hospital at 2am and my niece was born around 10am. So they were all fairly quick, but my first niece, they almost didn't make it!

It was one hour longer but with A I was already 3cm at my OB appointment 2 days before so I think that had something to do with it. I pushed an hour and 45 minutes the first time and about 5 minutes maybe less the second though.

All 3 of my moms labors were quick, but each subsequent labor was faster than the one before. My brother was born in the hospital hallway, and she almost had my sister in a parking lot.

Similar but different. Early labor was much much longer, active labor was about the same (under 8 hours), and pushing was way shorter (15 minutes instead of 3 hours). Recovery was way easier too. My water never broke on it's own the second time, so it wasn't as easy to tell it was the real deal or not.

I learned that every pregnancy and labor and baby is different. Just because your first labor went one way does not guarantee your second to be the same. That was very hard for me to accept when he didn't arrive on a similar time line as his brother.

Way quicker with #2. With #1 my water broke at midnight and I ended up having an emergency c section the next day at 4:12pm. For #2 I went to work that day but felt a little off. Left work around 1:30pm. Contractions became regular at 4 minutes apart at 6 pm, got to the hospital at 8pm and was 4 cm. at 10:25 pm my water broke, they checked me and I was 10 cm. didn't have time for an epidural, pushed a few times and he was born at 10:57pm.

From the time I noticed my first contraction it was about 24 hours before I headed to the hospital with LO1. Got there about 6 cm fully effaced, then it took about 12 hours to deliver.

With LO2 I progressed more before I was in labor. Once contractions started we were at the hospital maybe within an hour and a half at the most and I was the same as when I arrived at the hospital with LO1. 6 hours later LO2 was born.

So 23 hour difference to get to hospital and 6 hour diff once at the hospital for me.

I had a whirlwind labor and delivery with #1. (from water breaking spontaneously to fully dilated was 3 hours!)

I am terrified with #2 of delivering at home, en route, or as soon as I get to the hospital but before epidural.

Did #2 come faster, similar L&D, or longer?
