I had beta tests ordered when I had very early bleeding or spotting. The first time we pretty much knew it was a miscarriage because my urine test had turned negative and I think the doctor could tell from my pelvic exam. With my current pregnancy I just had the beta because the spotting stopped. I also had late first trimester bleeding so they got me in right away for a pelvic exam and to check the heartbeat. All with three different doctors offices. If you are not getting a good response from your doctor you could find another one that will take you in for blood test or ultrasound.
Good luck. I hope everything works out

@swedishfish: I can understand not wanting bad news alone (been through that twice). But maybe call back Monday (even if it's stopped) and see if they could push you through at a time and date your DH could be with you.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: @Pepper: the NP did offer to do a sono right then and there but stressed that we most likely wouldn't see a heartbeat yet (I think I'm 6.5 weeks but I don't know). She said she didn't want to put me through more uncertainty. I was alone because DH was at work so I decided to wait on the sono but now I regret it a little. I didn't want to hear possible bad news alone.

I bled a lot. All through the pregnancy. My cervix was irritable, I was using progesterone suppositories, I had a marginal placenta previa... I literally bled and spotted almost every day, up until I delivered. I had a happy ending, as you know.

Thinking of you! <3

@LovelyPlum: @T.H.O.U.: thanks...I ended up with red spotting and passed a small red clot so I went into the OB's office. The NP said she didn't see any more blood and my uterus felt fine. But I've had a little more bleeding since I've been home. I'm trying to keep calm and relax until my ultrasound on March 10.

@swedishfish: When I had early 1st tri bleeding (like, really early, 4 weeks), I called my OB's office and explained what was going on and she ordered beta testing. It came out fine so she said she would just see me at 8 weeks. Ultimately it was because of placenta previa, which self-corrected by 18 weeks.

@swedishfish: well at least they have talked about it. I know when I went to the ER their big concern was that everything was in the right place and I wasn't having a rupture. I still think they would need an ultrasound though to check that.

Again, try to keep your feet up if you can and avoid any straining. Hopefully it's a SCH like many of us have had.

@T.H.O.U.: I haven't even had an ultrasound yet. I think my OB's office is not equipped for early pregnancy issues. They've ruled out ectopic purely on the fact that I don't have constant pelvic pain.

I had red bleeding for about 36 hours before it would stop but it turned out ok. Hopefully they can get you in to check on things soon (have you ruled out ectopic)?

@swedishfish: can you call and ask to be seen?

My RE wanted to see me every time I bled. Thy strongly suspected it was from the progesterone (I discovered if I didn't insert it all the way, it didn't irritate me as much!) but did find an SCH at 8 weeks. I was instructed to call them every time I bled and did go in twice for an exam & uktrasound.

Same with my OB. Because of the diagnosed SCH they took any bleed seriously. Now that I've got a low-lying placenta they're still proactive about any bleeds & get me in for same day appointments.

It's scary, even if you do find a reason why you're bleeding. My first guess would be the progesterone. My OB did an internal at my 9w appt and told me my cervix was "irritated and lumpy" and we definitely blamed the progesterone. She even had me stop taking them!

If you are bleeding, usually, they will see you right away. I'd call just to check it out, although it is probably nothing. I bled for a day. They told me to come in right away. They never found out why I was bleeding. Only bled for a day or two.

I had bleeding at 4w3d when I went to the bathroom and that leveled off into a few days of brown spotting. It ended up with a m/c as you know but because of some things he saw on the ultrasound and because it stopped, he's not even sure the bleeding/spotting had anything to do with the miscarriage.
I hope everything is fine with you!
