Always, ever since I was a little kid and visited with my parents. I moved there for an internship one summer, got accepted as a transfer to NYU, and then had a moment of clarity and ended up not attending NYU because of the cost. It was going to be like $80,000 a year or something outrageous like that (with room and board). So I did my internship and came home. I grew up about an hour from the city and my parents never ever brought me into town. I started spending weekends in the city when I was a teenager because my best friend's cousin lived there. I almost made it a reality. My college boyfriend moved to NYC to work on Wall Street. He lived in the East Village and we did the long distance thing for about a year (visiting each other on weekends). Finally, I decided to make the move. I quit my job, didn't renew my lease, packed my things, and drove to NY. The whole way there I was panicking and realized that I was making a mistake. I loved NYC, but I didn't love him. I grew up in a pretty small town and the idea of moving to "the big city" really appealed to me. As I got older (and after I visited NYC) I thought maybe a slightly less big city like DC or Chicago. Then I lived in DC for 3 mo for an internship in law school and decided NOPE. Ohio is the life for me haha. (To be fair-- I think I could be very happy in DC or Chicago or even NYC if I had a LOT of money.
