We use receiving blankets for everything! They line her swing and rocker to keep them clean, we use them as burp clothes, clean up rags, play mats, swaddling, and of course as blankets. She goes through a lot because she is at the drooling stage. We got a ton of baby wash (I think 8 big bottles), and I was thinking of taking some back because they are $6-$7 a piece. So glad we didn't because we definitely go through it quicker than I thought. Turns out we have a spitter and we go through sooo many bibs and burp cloths that it's awesome to have tons of them. I can stash clean ones all over the house so I'm never far from one.
