@mrsmenow: LOL! That's so funny!

Oh this is one of the big things we talk about. ALL our family and friends say that our little chihuahua baby, Chloe, will be SO jealous when LO arrives! I keep thinking that she won't get too neglected because we still will let her sleep in bed with us. She's blind too, so needs our help to go outside, etc. She's definitely been my one and only baby for 10 years, I'm scared if she will get depressed. But luckily, she is mainly a lap dog, and just happy and content to be in the same room as people. And she can't see to steal anything! :)

Our dog is our baby. We've been calling him our first born, lol. I'm still in that stage of 'that's not going to happen to us.' I totally expect there to be an adjustment period, but I think as we get into a routine with the baby, it will go back to normal with the dog.

My dog was definitely my baby! Unfortunately we had to put him down a couple of weeks before LO's arrival. He was 13 and had developed an aggressive form of cancer. When it became clear he was not going to recover and was going downhill fast (he stopped eating and couldn't enjoy walks only a week after symptoms began) we had to have him put down. I miss him terribly,. :-(

No LOs yet, but currently my pomeranian is my child. It is kind of embarrassing how obsessed I am with her! Everyone makes fun of me. I can't imagine that changing, but everyone tells me it will! Poor pup.

@Mrs. Blue: Oh gosh, the visual of this is hilarious!! Hopefully it's out of love. ;)

I'm worried about this with our cat. Our dog, I don't worry about. He is soooo chill and DH gives him so much lovin and that won't change. However, my poor cat is totally my baby and I just hope he doesn't hate the baby.

I am SO worried about this! We have two "fur babies" and we are both so in love with them and are so worried about how they will handle it when LO arrives!

They don't sleep in bed with us, but are super snuggly when we are home if we are watching TV on the couch. One of them INSISTS on sitting between my knees curled up in a ball -- really cute now, not so sure how I'll feel about it later.

We are going to try to transition early/now to only being invited up onto the couch and get them their own little snuggle beds to have in the living room so they(hopefully) don't feel too traumatized!

Our two dogs were definitely our babies. Our pomeranian, Tempy has taken a motherly approach to LO. So much that she sometimes growls at DH when he goes to pick up LO. Our chihuahua, Pedro, is jealous of LO. But LO LOVES Pedro. He's always trying to grab him.

I am sooo worried about how our dog will deal. I'm pretty sure she knows something is going on because she's been trying to actually lay on top of my stomach at night...I'm not sure if she's trying to be close to whatever is in there or to suffocate them. Le sigh.

@mrsmenow: That is too funny! Be careful though, my dad is a vet and he told me if the dog swallows a paci, it's usually a $2000 operation. So, we are trying to keep them where she can't get them! Ugh!

My baby #1 was my dog, and I know exactly what you mean when I say you were in love!

I feel bad for my dog now. But, she is becoming best buds with baby girl. I also started going on walks with the stroller and dog now so that helps. She got hit with the stroller once and boy, she learned quickly to stay 5 feet away.

My kittens are definitely getting less attention. So is our pup, but I barely tolerated him before, now at least he is useful for cleaning up thrown food.

My dog was never too much of 'our baby' anyway-- partly his personality, partly us. We used to let him sleep in the bed, but he would always get up if we disturbed him anyway. Once I moved in with DH, he wasn't allowed on the bed because of DH's allergies and it was an easy transition. he's not allowed on the couch either, so in that sense I don't think we baby him that much. But I do know the attention will go way down. He is pretty chill, but he does get a sad look in his face when he's been ignored too long. (My LO won't be here for a while, but he lives part time with my sister who had a baby, so this is based on her experience with the sad face).

I feel bad because our dog is definately a mama's boy, but he is driving me nuts. He steals the babies pacifiers, he keeps barking to go outside, ugh.

The good thing is he is really good with LO. He sniffs her, sometimes licks her head, but otherwise leaves her alone.

Yes. He's still my baby, but obviously lo comes first. My mom makes a huge effort to pay lots of attention to my pup though. She always takes him on special walks without lo and takes him to the dog park. Probably why he loves her more than me now......
