I was the baby of the family and the only girl for a long time (until he got remarried). He called me his little princess. Even named me Sarah because of it. The he got remarried and things just changed. Now we barely speak. But he showed he cared and loved us in different ways. He was/is always very affectionate with my mother (hugging, kissing, etc), but not so much with us. It wasn't a big deal to me though, if I had wanted him to hug me more I could have asked and he probably would have just for me :) It just wasn't something that came naturally to him. My family is Italian American though, so I guess it's probably a more demonstrative culture. Plus, he worked really hard for us, so I think that was his affection. He made sure to remind us that he loved us though. He was always really big on spending time with me and teaching me stuff and telling me he loved me and thought I was awesome. He's not a super emotive guy in general, but he was always affectionate with us. I remember holding his hand as a kid, and he always hugs us before bed, even today! He was (still is) just typically Asian in that he does not express any form of emotion. The only time I remember him hugging me was at my wedding when he gave me away and only because everyone told him he had to! LOL!
