My hospital was super nice, private room, bath,. fridge/ect. Tthey redid it to make it more like a hotel than a hospital and call it a birthing suites. You deliver in a different room/floor and then are transported to the quiet stay floors. There is also a hospitality room that has free pop, water, snacks, breakfast, ect. that the moms/dads/grandparents/siblings can use when they visit. Their food was amazing as well and you just order off the menu and they bring it up! I told my DH I wasn't ready to leave yet it was so nice having all that food available!

My hospital was really nice. The rooms are private and very large and come with the hospital bed (where you also give birth), sofa bed, rocking chair, two other chairs + small table, flat screen TV and DVD player, fridge, private bathroom with jetted tub. You give birth in the same room you stay in and the baby stays with you. All the medical equipment is hidden in the walls behind pretty pictures.

The hospital I delivered E at was okay. It's a major regional medical center. Private room, private bathroom (no tub), flat screen TV and an arm chair that folded out into a bed for D.

The hospital I'm delivering this one at is a much smaller facility. I haven't taken the tour of the delivery floor yet, but from what I've seen of the hospital, and photos on the internet it's really nice. There are jacuzzi tubs in every room, they give you a really nice dinner with your partner one night (my coworker's daughter had prime rib), and they offer you a massage before you leave!

@regberadaisy: that's very pretty!

I was at Maimonides in NYC and it was very nice. I think they renovated just the year before. It didn't feel like a hospital, other than nurses coming to check on you at odd hours! The delivery rooms are comfortable, and the rooms where you stay afterwards are mostly double, but still very nice. There are massive privacy curtains so I could stay up and read, and not bug my neighbor too much. I still remember those curtains - they have words like life and health all over, in a dozen languages. I was too wound up to sleep, so I spent a lot of time looking at them and thought it was pretty awesome :happy:

I was going to deliver at a birthing center with a midwife. Some complications arose and I had a transfer to a hospital, but this is the room where i would have delivered and it was so nice!

The hospital was alright, I mean it was a hospital. I wish they'd had more options for a pull out bed though. I felt so bad for dh.

The hospital that we are planning at delivering at has a newly renovated birth center. I stayed there for a few days when I had HG. The rooms are big and I don't have to share a room. It's also a level 3 nicu, so that's good to know. Also, it's 10 minutes from our house. I need to schedule an official visit.

Oh, the hospital says each room has a 'Hydrotherapy in our whirlpool baths'. I'm not sure what that means. I know I can't have a water birth at this hospital but I am assuming I can labor in the bath. Not sure if it's just an ordinary tub or larger one.

Oh, my hospital has an in-room day bed for the DH to stay on while I'm there.

For lo1 it was an older hospital. Didn't get my own shower either! But the nurses were great, they made it all ok. For lo2 he will either be born at the same hospital as lo1 or a nicer one that we just toured. But I really think the nurses matter more than how "nice" it is. Of course you can't really predict people though.

I wouldn't say it was posh, but it was clean and comfortable - I had a private room with a comfy bed and bathroom, DH had a pull out bed and there were chairs for visitors. All diapers and clothes were provided which was awesome. Plus it didn't cost me a penny - Canada FTW :happy:

The hospital I delivered at last week is a few months old. It was very nice. I most appreciated the private room since I had a double room for my first. However, for all the niceites there was an incredibly annoying constant squeaking noise in my room like a mouse running on a wheel. I would have given up a lot of other features for a squeakless room.

Our hospital is one of the nicest around us and the maternity ward went through a renovation just before I headed into L&D! It was like a mini hotel room. Flat screen, sofa bed (albeit rock hard and uncomfortable), private rooms for all moms, en suite bathroom with full tub, etc.

Good lord these places sound amazing! Mine was a typical UK hospital, I can barely remember the room I laboured in, but once I gave birth I was on a ward with 5 other women and one pretty grubby shared bathroom! The meals were not bad but there was certainly not a selection, and there was nothing provided apart from a pillow for me. But the midwives were lovely and it was free! :happy:

In Austria it was extremely nice. Big, comfortable, equipped birthing rooms. I had a private recovery room and it was like a hotel. I got a toiletries kit, bathrobe and slippers, the wardrobe was stocked with tons of extra gowns, pads, towels and other essentials. All baby items like onesies, sleepers, cream and diapers were on the changing station. I ordered my food from a menu, could call for hot tea (including lactation tea) or bottled water anytime and had a do not disturb sign for the door. I think the do not disturb sign was my favorite.

Nice enough, but it still felt like a hospital- which was fine with me, since I was, you know, in a hospital. :) I cared more about the staff, who were all amazing, so I'm ok if the walls were plain.

My room that I stayed in afterwards was small but had a gorgeous view. I could hardly tell you anything about the labor and delivery room- I was in very active labor when I checked in and delivered less than 4 hours after I arrived, then I was soaking in my newborn not evaluating the surroundings. They had a tub for me to labor in though so that was good.

My hospital that I'll deliver at recently renovated their maternity ward and it is really nice. They did the renovations before my son was born, so I got to see everything already. It doesn't look or feel like a hospital at all! One thing I love is that you get to check into your room, and that's where you labor, deliver and recover. You don't need to leave the room at all unless you're going to the OR. Also, the rooms are huge, and have either a patio or a balcony attached to them. There is a sofa and two chairs for visitors, a flat screen TV, nice cabinets to put your things in, and a huge bathroom with a tub.
