My LO was a somewhat late sitter. I can't remember exactly which is terrible! I need to go look back at her monthly pictures where I noted everything. I think she was sitting steadily at 7 months. I was so anxious for it too! I was also really anxious for crawling because like you I got TONS of questions. I think by 9.5 months she was crawling. She started walking just shy of 11 months which is early-ish/on-time so they just do things when they are ready <3

My LO was sitting at 6mo, but he couldn't roll from back to front til nearly 8mo, which did worry me a little as I thought most babies had rolling down after only a few months! In about 4 weeks he's progressed very quickly though, from rolling back to front to army crawling, and now starting to regular crawl at times. I just think they all have their own different priorities when it comes to milestones!

No worries mom! All babies are different! LO didn't sit up without at least tumbling to the side until he was 8 months. He army crawled and scooted a few days before that. I would get asked about it all the time and told he would be a late walker/talker/pretty much late at everything. He walked by 11 months and he's 17 months now and the questions about his talking are starting. I'm just going to sit back and let him do his thing :)

My LO started sitting up kinda late, right around 7 months. Her ped said not to worry. She was army crawling around the same time but didn't crawl correctly till 11 months. She is 14 months and just now beginner walking (more than 4-5 steps) so she had been a bit late on everything but still in normal range

Yes, DS was a late sitter - it made starting solids kind of difficult! My memory is foggy but I know he started army crawling at 6 months, and I don't think he started sitting up comfortably until he was 9-10 months.

So my DD is younger, but she is 4.5 months and hasn't yet even rolled stomach to back. The hold-up (I think?) is that she doesn't care to put her arms down when she is in tummy time. She never ever pushes up on her hands or forearms. She just "supermans." I feel like she is sort of behind because it seems like most (all?) of the rest of the may moms' babies are rolling stomach to back, and a lot of them are rolling back to stomach! But I just feel like she's fine. She seems to have all the strength she needs, she just hasn't been motivated to put her arms down and roll yet. She'll get there. I'm pretty sure she won't go off to kindergarden stuck on her back like a turtle :) I think its hard not to worry when you feel like your kid is behind in this or that, but in the grand scheme of things it just won't be that big of a deal.

DD wasn't a late sitter but she crawled before she sat! Sitting was 2 weeks behind crawling and it literally happened overnight. She went from barely being able to tripod to sitting up unassisted like a pro randomly one day. He will get there and I'm sure it will be sooner rather than later! Every baby develops at their own pace.

My first couldn't sit or crawl until 10.5 months, then it all happened super quick!

My second is doing all that at 6 months and I am less than thrilled. We swore we wouldn't work with our second on all that stuff like we did with our first! We just wanted to enjoy a baby not getting into everything. One big difference is their head size, my first has always been >97%, and my second is always around 50%. Every kiddo is different, try to enjoy it while you can, mobility is a huge game changer :silly:

@Foodnerd81: I really feel like once he sits, crawling is going to com right after. When he's in my lap sitting, he lunges forward on his hands and tries to get away (can't go anywhere lol). I think it'll be a snowball effect once he gets going.

@Ree723: Thanks! I tell that to DH all the time. We can still walk away from him and take our eyes off of him right now. We won't for much longer. Lol

@Applesandbananas: Thank you! When I mention to people T isn't sitting/crawling yet, people say "Oh, (baby name) was pulling herself up at his age"

RAGE. Lol

DD1 was exactly like that - she wasn't sitting unassisted consistently until near 8 months and didn't start crawling until a couple of days shy of 10 months. She's 2 now and perfectly on track developmentally, she just took her time about hitting milestones! Like you, my intuition said she was fine and it was just her personality, and sure enough, it was!

Try not to worry, he's well within normal parameters and he will get there eventually. In the meantime, enjoy your days of having a non-mobile baby, once they start moving, parenting gets that much harder! :-)

C was sitting by then- started around six months and was one of the first among our baby friends and I was so pleased with myself- I mean my baby. ;) Then her friends started crawling before her, and she was the second to last to start walking, and I was reminded that babies develop at their own pace. So my point is even if he is a little slow to sit up, doesn't mean he will be late on other things, and babies really do develop at their own pace.

T sounds totally normal, don't stress yourself out!

My friend swears her LO was walking at 8m and I don't think my LO made any attempt at crawling until 8/9m and even then it was army crawling. I can't remember when he could sit, maybe around 7ish? It's such a blur and I promise that soon these days of worrying will be a distant memory.

T is 7 months now and still not sitting! He's not very stable in tripod even. He's balanced for a few moments unassisted lately and I thought that meant we were finally getting there, but then most of the time he doesn't try to balance himself at all. Just happily flops over to his back.

If we gently hold our hands on his thighs he can balance himself. Wobbly but he can definitely sit up. But by himself...not even close. We practice with him every day and try to give him tummy time but he immediately rolls over to his back. He won't stay on his belly. Needless to say, crawling or any process of starting crawling is also far far off.

I really really feel like he's fine. He has lots of strength and is bearing weight on his legs so I don't think he's behind developmentally. But it's gettig more and more worrisome every day as babies his age and younger are sitting and crawling. I'm ready for him to be at that next level to see him learn and explore and have so many more opportunities to play!

And I'm tired of people asking me "Is he crawling yet?" NO.

I guess I'm just looking for reassurance or tips for what we can do to help him progress. DH works himself up over it more than I do and it's stressing me out. :/
