DS1 - no. He was literally the pinkest baby ever....like flamingo pink.

DS2 - yes. They checked his levels a few times and was JUST on the cusp of needing the light, but ultimately, the window worked well enough.

Yes. Didn't need lights but had 3 trips to the lab in her first week to follow it closely.

LO2 did. He was 15 days early and my milk was slow to come in. He didn't have to do the lights, just a few days of heel pricks, sunlight, and nursing constantly when my milk came in. His eyes stayed yellow for a quite a while though.

DD had it. She was 36w. She had to go under the lights in the hospital and we had to start supplementing (BM and formula) to try to bring her bili numbers down. We also went in for bili and weight checks every other day for a week after going home to make sure she didn't need to go back to the hospital.

No, but the pediatrician was convinced she was. We had to go back several times for testing in LO's first week because our pedi was so convinced of it.

Yes to both - born 39+4 and 39+2, both had a hospital stay of 7 days, both had 2 of those days under lights, lost around 10% weight due to slow feeding. Both were supplemented with formula plus breastfeeding every two hours + pumping for supply. DD1 continued with formula but DD2 managed to maintain breastfeeding and was back to exclusive BF within a few weeks. Main cause seemed to be blood incompatible- I'm O- and they're O+.

Yes, she was born at 37 1/2 weeks so it wasn't unexpected. It wasn't bad enough for blue light therapy, but she had a bunch of heel pricks during her first week or so.

Yes for both. Lo1 as born via csec and then had to stay additional two days before we were released (all under the light). We actually had to leave her for one day bc I was released.

Lo2 was born vbac and still had it. We were released normally but had to go daily for about a week to get his levels checked. And he had to be under the lights at home too.

I voted no, but I guess the answer is just a little bit. He didn't have to do any medical treatment, our pediatrician just told us to get him out in the sunshine and feed him lots.

My first baby had to stay an extra 2 days on the peds ward under the lights. It was rough - only one parents was allowed to stay with her, so that was me since I was nursing. It was hard to go from the care of the maternity ward to being totally ignored in peds while I was still recovering. My little one did fine though! My second baby was also jaundiced, but she was able to avoid staying over. I just had to take her for daily bilirubin checks at my ped.

My first, yes - I had major supply issues and so she became very dehydrated and jaundiced. She was starving and I had no idea. She ended up in the nicu for a week under the lights and hooked up to an iv :crying:

My second - nope, I broke out that formula night one haha

My first was, but only a little. I just fed her like crazy and let her sit in the sunlight a little, no lights necessary. She had a bump on her head from the vacuum assist at birth which increased the likelihood I guess.

My second was not at all.

Yes. DD was born at exactly 37 weeks so it wasn't unexpected. We stayed a few extra days at the hospital and she spent 2 nights on a blue light at home, but it didn't really go away until she was 2 months old or so. I guess with breastfed babies it can take longer to fully clear out - it was kind of stressful at the time!
