Yup. I only pushed for 20 minutes, but he had a golf ball sized lump on the back of his head. It went away within a few hours.

@skibobrown: not true for us - between the giant episiotomy and the vacuum on his head, we were both pretty mangled. I think I fall into the "should've been a csection" category...

His head was a bit misshapen...pushed 2 hours and he was posterior. It seems like it rounded out really fast, though.

I think you get one of the other -- baby has misshapen head, or your lady parts get ripped to pieces. (That's assuming a natural birth.) My baby had a beautiful round head due to a fast birth, but I was a whole different story...

My oldest had a cone head but the baby had a perfectly shaped head. That's the difference on one hour pushing vs two minutes.

Sure was, I pushed for two hours and Baby was a ventouse delivery so she had a wicked head shape going on.

Baby also lost all the skin of the back of her head where the cup was suctioned on and she was really ragey and uncomfortable for her first week of life - poor Bubba!

@lydg: my DS, too - vacuum & sunny side up.

He had a giant hematoma on the back of his head like a big bloody water balloon. My mom was traumatized. It went down within a week but his newborn photos make me cry :(

Nope, she had a perfectly shaped head! I attribute that to our awesome midwife who let me labour down for 2 hrs before starting to push. It also took less than an hour to push her out (and only 5 or 6 contractions as they had slowed way down at that point) and we went from seeing about an inch of her head to a full baby out in one big push - she was in a hurry! On the plus side - a lovely shaped head for her, on the downside - a nice 2nd degree tear for me!

Yes...cone head! He had to be vacuumed out and was sunny side up. We're still doing PT because he developed torticollis and his flat spot was a little worse than normal.

My oldest was breech so the top of his head was flatter than it should have been b/c I guess I squashed it while he was in utero. I didn't notice that until he was a little older and compared pictures. They all pop back in shape!
