My mum had trouble carrying her pregnancies to term because a luteal phase defect. She gained about 25 pounds each pregnancy. She had both my brother and I about 10 days early. My brother did try to arrive at 26 weeks. She had an emergency C-section with me and VBAC with my brother. I also think she had GD with my brother.

For me:
DS1: Terrible HG losing 30 pounds before I gained back 11 of that 30. N came at 37 weeks on the dot. I was able to have him vaginally.
DS2: Terrible HG losing ~20 pounds before I gained back 11 of that 20. E came at 35 weeks, despite our efforts to stop labor. He also arrived vaginally.

So pretty different.

Exactly the same! We both loved pregnancy, had no sickness but both had GD. I was 5lb13oz and E was 5lb14oz!

@lady baltimore: Essentially yes! We both were lucky getting pregnant quickly and have had an easy time of it (well, so far - for me anyway!). Minimal morning sickness, stretch marks, etc. She went into labor 3 days before her EDD. Ill take that! Haha. I am only 22 weeks but going to 42 doesn't sound too desirable ...

My mom had 3 years of infertility and one miscarriage before having us. Given how irregular her periods were, she suspects she had PCOS. After I was born, though, it was like something clicked, and se was able to get pregnant whenever she wanted. She had super easy pregnancies but was overdue with all of us. She even had to be induced for #5!

All of my sisters, save one, have the same irregular periods issue that my mother and I do. I am able to get pregnant easily, but have a history of RPL very early in pregnancy. My first was not an easy pregnancy in that it really took a toll on my body. It remains to be seen about subsequent pregnancies for me. I was not induced, though. My period is still not back at 15 months PP, though, so I'm not sure my body has reacted in the same way hers did. None of my sisters have been pregnant yet, so we don't know how they will react.

Very, very similar the fact that we both had no trouble getting or staying pregnant (knock on wood) and that deliveries were quick. I had a shortened cervix with my second though and was put on modified bedrest at 30 weeks. She delivered right around her EDD I went 9 days overdue with my first and 10 early with my second.

Maybe my second but not my first. I was really sick for the first half of my first pregnancy and DS was born small, under 6 lbs but totally healthy. My mom didn't get sick at all, just a little nausea here and there and my oldest sister was nearly 10lbs and had blood sugar issues. My second pregnancy was much easier so more like my mom's.

No but she had her first at 18 and I had my first at 29, so that could account for a lot of the differences. She had short labors and no issues at all. I had elevated BP, tons of swelling and had to be induced with my first and a scheduled c section with my 2nd.

I just found my birthmother, so that was one of the things I wondered!

She said she had extremely easy pregnancies, and all 3 of her children were born on their due date. She was 16 when she had me, so I wonder if that's why it was easy. And she obviously wasn't trying to get pregnant at 15!

In contrast, our first child took a lot to conceive, and I had an awful pregnancy and delivery. LO was born a few hours after her due date though!

She said she wished all 3 of her daughters had had easy pregnancies/deliveries like her, but all 3 of us didn't! I was older (28) when I delivered my daughter but both my half sisters were younger when they had their sons.

The only thing we had in common was getting pregnant easily/right away and both carried past our due date.

On the other hand my mom got a lot of stretch marks and gained a lot of weight that she has never really been able to get rid of. I *luckily* didn't get any stretch marks and was back to my pre pregnancy weight quite quickly. My mom also had pretty rough morning sickness while I did not.

@lady baltimore: My mom and my sister got pregnant the first time, each time. I had a terrible time and it took about 14 cycles. I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure. She was 6 years younger than me when she started.
She felt pretty great throughout her pregnancies. At 11 weeks now, I'm just a tiny bit nauseous when I'm hungry, that's all.
Her vaginal delivery was very easy ("IT felt like menstrual cramps, I don't know what all the fuss is about!") so I'm hoping mine (February) will be the same!!!

Noooo.... I wish! My mom claims she had the most magical, beautiful, birds chirping on her shoulder Disney style pregnancies. I went straight from non-stop nausea and vomiting to sciatica and awful back pain. She delivered my brother and I all-natural, with no pain meds, and I was doped to the gills for my 37 week induction due to preeclampsia. We did both have one miscarriage, though, so we do have that in common. But besides that, no way.

Not really? She was really sick for a lot of it, and I wasn't. And we have really different builds, so we carry differently, gain weight differently, etc. Since she wound up with a placental abruption that nearly killed me, I'm really hoping they don't end the same either!

I'm only 10 weeks, but my mom had no trouble conceiving, while I did. But I had a few medical issues I think that hindered my fertility.

So far my pregnancy is similar in some ways. No weight gain and my mom only gained 25 pounds at most with each of her four pregnancies... and we were all healthy/normal size/etc.

I think so. My mom never had morning sickness and pretty much went about her regular life. My friends have referred to me as one of those "pregnancy unicorns". I don't swell, I stay relatively comfortable and maintain the same pace of life pretty much my entire pregnancies.

My sisters and I were all born on time and so was DD, although I had to be induced whereas my mom never did

Not at all alike!

She took almost a year to get pregnant with me. I got a BFP almost immediately.

She felt a bit sick in the first trimester and threw up once or twice. I had HG and threw up very frequently throughout my entire pregnancy.

I had gestational diabetes. She did not.

I was born 10 days early (first child) and my son was born 1 day late. However, we had very similar labors - long, awful, and ending in a c-sections.

Man, minus not having to TTC for long I really got the short end of the stick!

My mom TTC for 7 years before she got pregnant with my brother naturally. I tried 2.5 years with 3 failed IUIs and got pregnant with first round of IVF.

Similar pregnancies with no nausea and overall easy and uneventful pregnancies.

As for delivery, my mom doesn't remember if she went into labor early or late. I had to be induced early because of pre-e, so can't compare.

The first pregnancies were similar in that she and I both suffered from bad all-day morning sickness. She wound up with an emergency C-section and I had a pretty textbook vaginal delivery with an epidural and IV for group B strep as the only interventions.
Pregnant with #2 and morning sickness hasn't been as bad for me. My mom's second baby was a repeat C-section but too soon to tell what we will end up with (19 weeks).

She had a fairly textbook pregnancy, gained a ton of weight and had a c-section 2 weeks past her due date with me. I had a very medically complex pregnancy where I didn't gain that much and went into early labor on my due date and got a little help from an induction. And so far LO is way healthier than I was (knock on wood!)

She had no problem getting or staying pregnant, I had trouble my first time. She was sick for all 9 months- she said she dropped out of school and quit work to be a housewife-and I definitely didn't do that. Her water broke and she had an emergency c section with me and says we both almost died-I was induced with both past my due dates due to minor medical issues. She lovvvvvvved it, and I love not being pregnant :)

Quite similar, we both got pregnant very easily (although I've only done it once - she got pg with 2 of us on the first try and another 2 who were happy accidents!), had very moderate morning sickness and a fairly easy pregnancy. We both had high bp towards the end and both had no stretchmarks. But she went into spontaneous labour with all four of us, whereas I had to be induced with DS.

Ya, similar. We didn't have any issues with getting pregnant but my mom had a miscarriage for her second pregnancy. We were iinduced for our first pregnancies and ended up delivering by c-section. RCS for pregnancy 2 and our periods were back within the first month despite breastfeeding.

Not really. She really struggled to get pregnant with me and both my siblings, while DH and I conceived in 4 cycles. She gained a lot of weight and got stretch marks while I did not gain too much and did not get any. She went past due with all of us and I had to be induced at 37 weeks due to severe preeclampsia.

Our one big similarity is that neither of us got very much (if at all) in the way of morning sickness.
