My DH wants to practically set up a whole set to film it from different angels! I veto'd that one real quick.

I couldn't imagine him not being there. I think your DH will be fine just keep him by your face, he doesn't need to be down below where it all gets real

Oh no! I never considered that DH might not be able to stomach the delivery! =\ I can't imagine doing it without him! I'm due in April, so I guess I have a while to gird him up if he's not up for it already. :)

Of course! There's no other option! You helped put it in there, you can help get it out! He was holding my right leg, rubbing my head and giving me updates on the status (telling me how close I was getting, despite me telling him he wasn't to look down there!)

Yes! He was there the entire time! I induced at 39 and 4 so he could be there. But @fairy: when my OB asked him if he wanted to see the baby coming out when I had my c-section, all the blood drained out of his face, and he said, "I'd better not"! Lol! I'm kind of disappointed I didn't get any pictures! Next time I'm giving my camera to the anesthesiologist, heh.

Yup and he stood in front of me when I got the epidural at 10cm with contractions every 30 seconds. There is NO WAY I could have stayed still for it if it hadn't been for him. Once the epi was in though, he spent the rest of the time til our son was born chatting with the anaesthesiologist about stocks and bonds (his area of expertise)....I was like. Hello, you're about to be a dad, can you leave the financial planning to later????

Absolutely!

I think with everything about the day your baby is born you can think and imagine how it will be or feel but it's never the same as being there in that moment. Your DH can be squeamish about the process in theory but when he's there and his child is being born it's different.

My husband was there for the birth of our LO, and he was literally my partner in delivery

I really was not thrilled with the idea of him seeing the bad stuff. I was so stupid and naive! He was the one who held my legs up for cervical checks, lol... He swears that when he saw her head, it totally wasn't freaky that there was a head coming out of my vagina:) He just saw her, and couldn't believe she was here. And that moment on, it was this surreal experience, and it was all about her - not blood and gore...I really do believe him, that he wasn't grossed out at all and that he loved seeing her birth. I think he just maybe mentally blocked out the gross stuff:)

my DH is super squirmy about blood etc . . . but he was totally fine during my labor (maybe helpful we had watched birth videos in our class). he saw me in a lot of um, revealing positions, he watched her come out, and then he asked to see the placenta! I would never have guessed that for sure but I think it's so amazing they often get over the fears.

I don't have a LO yet but this is something we have talked about. He is EXTREMELY squeamish and is certain he will pass out but I told him that he would be so caught up in the emotion, excitement and adrenaline that it wouldn't matter. That's how I felt at my sister's C-section. He said he will just keep his head pointed in my direction...whatever helps ya buddy but you are going to be there.

Yes for both. Although he left for awhile during baby 2's labor. I had such a long labor with #1 that when I was induced for #2 I told him he could go out for lunch because contractions we're only every 5-6 minutes apart and not that strong and I figured we had a bit of a ways to go. He went out for lunch and she was born only 2 hours later.

I am very glad to see that nobody has responded "no" to this poll! I can't fathom anybody's DH/spouse/support person skipping the delivery, unless there were an emergency like some of you have described.

I would think that if a husband tried to just up and walk out of the room when delivery was about to happen, the doctors and nurses would be stunned.
