I am 28 and dh is 29, didn't think it would take very long at all..

It's been 6 months and a shock that it is taking this long since we are both young. Now after pcos diagnosis and not ovulating on my own, I realize how tough it can be.

Staying positive!

This journey is going kind of how I expected it, though if someone had told me I would have a loss, I probably would have said "no way". Otherwise I knew I would need medical interventions before we even started and I'm going to give them some time to work before thinking that this is taking too long.

Definitely not what I expected. I feel as though I had reasonable expectations & took the "could take 12mo" to heart and didn't stress, especially since I'm very healthy & always had normal, healthy cycles. Never would have imagined it would take over 4-1/2 yrs including one m/c & cost enough to feed & arm a small country, due to "unexplained infertility." Thankfully, we're currently expecting twins from IVF so it was all worth it.

I thought we would need more intervention due to my PCOS. (I don't usually see AF for up to a year at a time).
We got pregnant while NTNP.
Then due to my PCOS and thyroid issues, I had a 40%chance of miscarriage. I am so thankful that I didn't have to experience that, nor fertility treatments.
My heart goes out to everyone that does need treatments / suffers a loss.

Also, I thought I wanted to be one and done. I am already begging for #2.

Yep! I was expecting it to take way longer. We got lucky on the 3rd cycle. I was 33 so expecting it to take at least 6 months. And given I know so many that had miscarriages, especially in my family, I was expecting one of those.

I thought it would take about six months to get pregnant, especially since I had been on a birth control pill a year prior to trying. That pill really messed up my cycle and my body. After getting off it I had long cycles, 34-42 days. They weren't predictable. Instead of taking a while, as soon as my IUD came out I got pregnant, before I even got my period that cycle.

Now I know I'm so fertile, I'm going to be SUPER careful after this babe comes. I want 2.5-3 years in between babies.

It was a little different than I expected. I have always had irregular periods since I was 13... sometimes I would go 5 months without getting a period if I was not on birth control so I expected a difficult time getting pregnant.

It took us 4 cycles - which I feel like is pretty average. We were blessed to not have difficulties like I expected. Hopefully we will have the same luck for baby #2!

The summer before I got pregnant I was running a TON and even ran a marathon. I 100% expected to be that pregnant running mamma with the big bump up until close to the end.... but after two months of trying to get pregnant gave up on running temporarily. Whenever I ran a lot my periods would get even extra irregular. I'm a thin person so I figured maybe my body fat was too low while running.

Now that LO is 7 months I'm trying to get back into running and it's not easy! I know with a little time, I'll get back into the groove.. but probably no more marathons until I have way more time on my hands.

I thought I would have a hard time getting pregnant for no good reason - I sort of did. Took 8 months with a miscarriage mixed in.

After having a hard time getting pregnant, I thought we would just roll with the punches after baby 1 and try to get pregnant again pretty quickly. Bed rest and a difficult pregnancy changed that. I'm almost 33 and LO is now 12 months and I don't have the urge yet.

Definitely took longer than I had expected. Not a hugely long time, but since my sis is a fertile myrtle, I thought it would be much quicker :/ Also, I didn't know a whole lot about my cycles when we started, and as soon as I started temping, it was a lot easier to predict ovulation.

I didn't have any real known reason to think it would take us a while to conceive (like PCOS or similar), but I thought it would take several cycles because my husband was 45 when I conceived and has been having the secks for like 25+ years without a single "oops" or even a scare. Because of that, he was convinced it would take us a while. Instead, we literally conceived the first time we didn't use protection, even though I thought the date we did it was a safe date in my cycle.

We were extremely lucky.

It took us 4 cycles. I honestly thought that we would be like our friends how got pregnant so fast on first tries. It was a hard pill to swallow that you're not pregnant when she's pregnant with her second and lacking all understanding how hard it is sometimes even though ours was easier than most.

I still hope that trying for our next LO will be fast since it's coming up soon.

after reading online before NTNP, I was convinced it was going to take a long time. thankfully for us, it was only 3 cycles. we then thought we would wait a year before trying for number 2. then we got our surprise BFP when DS was 7 months old

I went to my yearly checkup on Dec 2011 and announced to my doc that we were going to start trying spring of next year, she warned bme due to my abnormally short cycles that I had a high potential of not ovulating and it could take awhile to get pregnant.

After hearing this we decided to start trying Jan 2012 on a trip to the Bahamas (after hearing the news it might take awhile, our urge to become parents hit an all time high), January 28th came and we got our positive.

So it came WAY quicker than we expected, we were expecting fertility issues instead of a one and done.

I thought it would take forever to get pregnant coming off the pill after being on it for 10+ years. My nurse friends warned me that it could take months for my cycle to regulate. I got pregnant the first month after I stopped taking it.

I thought for sure we would be one and done and now I'd looove to have another LO. Sadly, I don't think it's in the cards for us.

Yup because I thought we'd get pregnant pretty easily since I've never been on BC, but it took us a little while. And when we got a BFP, I loss the baby at 8 weeks. It then took us another 4 months before we got our sticky baby. LO is due in August!!

I didn't expect to get pregnant at all, or at least without lots of help, due to endometriosis. We got pregnant on cycle 2 of NTNP. My mom always had a hard time getting (and staying) pregnant and had several miscarriages, so it took a long time for that fear to go away for me. I thought we'd try for another right away after this one, but I think I'm content to wait a while.

Yes, definitely.

I set my expectations to a reasonable level, I thought. I did not expect to get pregnant easily at all. I figured that it would take 5-6 months, maybe even up to a year, where we'd time BD well but still not get pregnant.

Well, instead I'm having ridiculously long cycles and not ovulating at all. I likely have PCOS (been to the doctor and we're getting tests to confirm, but he is pretty sure that is what it is). I did not expect that I wouldn't even ovulate at all. I did not expect that I would need to take medication in order to get pregnant...

Yes, because I have long, somewhat irregular cycles, I assumed it would take us a while to conceive.....but nope, we got pregnant literally the first time we pulled the goalie. I was shocked!

I always thought we'd start trying for our second when LO was six months old as I'm only 13 months younger than my sister and would love to have two LOs close in age. I'm also 33 and want three kids, so I know I don't have loads of time on my hands. Whilst we did stop preventing when LO was 7 months old, I kind of knew we weren't really TTC yet as I didn't have my cycles back due to BF'ing, and I was ok with that as I'm not ready to give up my one on one time with E yet.

I'm 11 months pp and whilst my cycles have sort of returned (super irregular though as I'm still BF'ing), I don't think they're going to get back to normal until I wean and I'm ok with that. I had thought I would wean around six months so we could be pregnant by the time E turns one, but I love my time with her so much, that I'm just not really that fussed about when my cycle comes back or when we get pregnant again.

I thought it would take us a while, I was anticipating about 4-5 months until we'd actively start trying (charting timing etc) We ended up getting pregnant the first month off birth control.

When I was planning our due date I thought that having a due date close to summer vacation would be ideal. However it turned out having a due date towards the beginning of the year worked out perfectly and I was able to spend more time at home with DS.

I thought I would have a whole lot of trouble getting and staying pregnant. My mother had very high risk pregnancies, and miscarriages, and I have the same hormonal imbalance that she does (extremely high estrogen). Surprisingly, we got pregnant without actively trying (an "oops", if you will), and DD's residency in my womb is keeping my hormones at bay, for the first time in my life.

Our path will be significantly different than I thought it would be. My husband and I are carriers for a genetic disorder. TTC the "normal" way is not a good idea for us. We will be TTC with IVF along with PGD. We are only in the beginning stages of researching fertility clinics and getting other testing done.

I had also hoped to have more than one child but given my medical issues, it may not be feasible for me to be pregnant more than once.

It isn't what I'd envisioned but I'm grateful that the technology is there to make this a possibility.

Yep... I thought it would happen within the first few months, and I never worried about miscarriages. But here I am, still not pregnant, over a year in, and with 1 m/c :P Somehow I still am hopeful though!
