I was coughing a lot that weekend and peeing myself everytime, or what I thought was every time but apparently I was leaking that whole time too!

@schubro3: this is exactly what happened to me. I went about my day (working from home) and every so often, usually when I got up from my chair, a little more would leak out. First leak was 6:30am. I was having contractions by early afternoon. Actual birth was at 6pm the following day.

With my first two babies my water broke and it was a leak, not a gush. No pop, and with my first I went all day in denial of what it was because I was only 35 weeks. I did have little gushes every once in a while, not just once though, so you are probably just dealing with discharge (which I did too at the end and it totally messed with my mind)

@schubr03: what you describe is similar to what I experienced with the birth of my second just a few months ago. I spent about 36 hours walking around with a pad on wondering if I was really peeing myself that much/having that much discharge. But it was really bad in the mornings and then not very leaky in the afternoon or evening. The second day was pretty leaky but I was also having regular contractions.

I found out my water was broken when I checked into the hospital and I'm still not sure when it actually broke. My midwife said it was probably a small tear at the top of the bag of waters.

@MrsB2012: this is exactly what happened to me but I also lost my mucous plug at the same time and contractions started an hour after that. DS was in my arms 12 hours later!

When I had my last baby, I was sitting on the floor, and when I stood up, I heard a small 'pop' and I had maybe... 1/4-1/2cup of fluid come out. I went to the bathroom, peed, and when I stood up, a couple more maybe tablespoons came out. Not a lot. I knew it was my water because I heard it pop, but that's the only reason why I knew. When I went to the hospital, they said my bag was still intact, but it was possible that i heard the pop because a small part at the top broke. I didn't have anymore fluid come out until they broke my water while in labour. So it's possible the same thing happened, that it broke at the top and that's why you aren't having much more come out. Keep an eye on contractions maybe starting soon :)

I thought I had a leak last time at 25 weeks. I went to my midwife and she has this swab that indicates whether it's AF or not. If you are concerned, it's a quick visit to check.

Bodies do weird things while we're pregnant!

When I thought my water broke, I called the OB and she had to walk around for an hour. If you are sitting it was something about the baby's head putting pressure on your bladder. I had a slow leak but my contractions kicked in so I knew it was go time.

Well there hasn't been anything since then, so clearly I'm overreacting. I've said for so long that these last few weeks of pregnancy I feel like I'm in the TWW! I over analyze EVERYHING!

I had discharge and dampness a few days before my due date. I was worried that it was a slow leak, and it had been happening for a few hours, so I went in. Turned out to be nothing and they sent me home. I'm glad I went in, I felt much better knowing. Nearly a week later, my water broke, suddenly and clearly. Baby was born 7 hours later.

So my water broke suddenly but I think in most cases if it's really your water breaking it will continue to leak. TMI but I was soaking through pants because it just kept going!

L&D can check if it's amniotic fluid if you're unsure, though!

@FaithFertility: there really hasn't been anymore in my underwear, but I've been peeing quite a bit. Hahah. I doubt it was my water breaking. I think I'm overreacting.

Possible TMI - So I just had my underwear get soaked through but there was some mucus in it as well. I know it wasn't pee cause I had just gone to the bathroom. Also, I haven't felt a pop and there really hasn't been anything after this (but it's only been a few minutes).

Could this be my water breaking? Or just discharge.

What did it feel like for you if you have a slow leak? Did it happen over a long period of time before you realized what it was?
