I was parched in the first several months and drank a ton of water! Now I forget a lot but I've been trying to be better!

I am not a big drinker normally and when I was breastfeeding R I just drank if I was thirsty. My supply was fine and I was able to pump a bit extra if I wanted. But I may just not need a lot of fluids to exist! Good luck and don't feel like you have to constantly chug water

I drink around 70-80 oz a day, when I don't, it doesn't make much of a difference. I find skipping a meal or eating something unusually light impacts my supply more. So much for that diet! :silly:

I'm drinking out of a bubba keg. I wasn't drinking hardly any water because I wasn't remembering to. It's helped because it has a straw and I can fill it up a couple times a day. I didn't drink nearly enough with DS and I had super low supply. I just drink until I'm not thirsty. I think it is 64 oz.

Im not normally a big water drinker. Getting 8 cups a day is nearly torture, but in the first 6 months of nursing I was so so thirsty. I drank way more then and on the days I didn't I saw a definite decrease in production of milk!

Too much water can actually be bad for your supply. In the early days I pounded water & it didn't help. Drink to thirst! Of course many of us are chronically thirsty... I try to just have a big glass of water with each meal & snack so 4-5 times a day.

I think as long as you are properly hydrated (and that amount is different for everyone) then more water doens't necessarily help your supply.

How much water did you drink throughout the day while nursing? Was it more than what you would normally drink while not nursing? I'm having a hard time drinking enough water, it just slips my mind. I'm wondering if increasing my water intake will help me pump more, since I'm trying to build a small freezer stash for if I need to leave E. Did more or less water affect your supply at all? Obviously not enough will lower it, but just curious others experience.
