Personally I would go cold turkey on the bottles. I did with DS at 12 months (but he always drank cold formula). If she's willing to drink cold water or juice out of a sippy or straw cup, she'll get enough to drink. At 20 months my son only had 2 cups of milk all day, but he gets plenty of water/juice to keep him hydrated and he eats yogurt like a champ.

@youboots: oh just remembered. We switched the first bottle of the day first for a couple weeks. Because he would be hungrier that time of day we figured (as opposed to the bottle with lunch and before bed) and would just drink it quickly.

We just switched cold turkey to cups with straws around 18 months. He still has milk when he gets up, with lunch (aka before nap) and after bath before bed
ETA: he'll be three in March.

My nephew is 30 months and still likes warm milk if he's at home (he can tolerate cold milk or just water in public in a straw cup). They were able to bottle wean and get him to use a sippy but only this one:

Philips Avent My Easy Sippy Cup, 9 Ounce, Blue/Green, Stage 2 (colors may vary) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UFWI7IK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_d6VAyb119VS12

It's a soft thin spout so he can suck out of it largely like a bottle. (He's also super into his paci). Maybe try those with warm milk for a while and then offer straw cups of cold milk or water at meals and snacks.

@youboots: My doc gave me the advice to only change one variable at a time when switching from warmed bottles of formula to WCM. So that it's not overwhelming AND so that if they reject you know why.
So for example, first go to warm milk in bottle (which you did). Then warm milk in straw cup by dropping one bottle at a time and replacing with straw cup. Then transition to cold in a straw cup.
We did this and he did great. Yeah at first they may not drink as much from the straw. But my ped told me not to worry about his milk intake for that week or two while he adjusted - just make sure he was getting plenty of calcium from other Things like yogurt and cheese.
And once you make a change try as HARD as you can to not revert back. So if you drop the nap bottle first, stick to your guns. The only way she can get used to it and realize that it's her only option is if you make it her only option. I promise she won't get dehydrated or starve or anything! She may refuse it for a few days but if you remain consistent she will catch on (just like anything with these little creatures :-) )

I wrote a huge email to a friend a while back when we were transitioning. Step by step how we did it and what really helped and what didn't. I am happy to forward to you if you want it.

I would go cold turkey on the bottle. Up to you if you still want to mess with warming it. I think at this age she's not going to take to having a sippy sometimes and bottle others. What about an open cup? That's about the age we dropped sippies or straws at the table. Only open cups now at the table.

@youboots: We do a lot of other dairy like yogurt and cheese so it never bothered me when DS rejected the sippy of milk at first. We just kept offering with dinner and now he likes it.

@ShootingStar: because she likes warmed milk we have tried cold milk on a sippy and she rejects it. We may go cold turkey.

Is there a reason you're still giving her bottles? I would just drop one and see how she does, then a week later drop the next and so on. We never put WCM in bottles, just sippies.

DD is 22 months. She sleeps usually 7:30-7:30 and naps 1-3 or so. She has a warmed 6oz bottle of WCM when she wakes, before nap and before bed. She will not eat first thing. She usually has breakfast at 9 a snack around 11, dinner at 5 and a snack before or after dinner or both. She drinks another 6 oz or so of water a day. I want to get her weaned from the bottle, and we are going to daytime potty train her soon. She's in the 80th% for height and 50% for weight so I know she's getting enough I just think it's time to drop the bottle. Which bottles should I drop? What should we replace them with? Cold turkey and only cold milk out of a straw cup?
