On my way to 3rd trip in less than 3 years and there is a new mobile ordering option. It is on the My Disney Experience site or app and you can pre-order your food for easy pickup at the Quick Service counters. Disney World is so fun. You can google Disney World Cheat Sheets for Fast Pass info. Also you can filter out rides by heights on Touring Plans.

We just came back! Although we went at one of the peak times of the year, we had such a great time! We were 4 adults and 1 child (3.5 years old)

1. Definitely get fast passes for Mine Train, Frozen, Safari - those were the only rides that I never saw wait time go below 30 min (and I never saw Mine Train or Frozen go below 60-90 minutes, even at 1:30am!!!) but we did go at one of the most crowded times of the year (over Easter break) so this may be different in May.
2. Again, because we went at such a crazy time, the lines were incredibly long during the morning and afternoon, especially for family friendly rides. However, we went back to Magic Kingdom one night when it was open later and got to go on all the popular rides (Dumbo, Tea Cup, Barnstormer, Buzz Lightyear) with very short lines.
3. We did book our dining reservations as soon as it opened up (180 days I think) but we were able to change one of them on the day of, so there will still be options. Food in the parks was great though, so I wouldn't be opposed to doing more concession dinners next time to save money!
4. I saw a ton of people bring in a cooler (small) - definitely bring in plenty of water, we spent a fortune on water in the parks
5. have a great time and be open to waiting in some lines as I hear Disney is never, ever empty!

@jennfly929: oh and the app tells you wait times. So we could see that a ride close to us only had a 10 minute wait so we'd hop to that before going else where.

We just went!

We weren't crazy about planning - at all. We got fast passes with the app like 2 days before. It worked wonderfully!! We did 10 rides! My kids are 4 and 1.5 and I'm pregnant and I was able to do all of them except the race track one - only my 4 year old and husband could.

Get the Disney world app and check out the rides. So many are safe for little kids and pregnant people.
We had fast passes at 9:50, 11:30, 12:50. We did buzz light year (my fave) around 10 then the race track and carousel on the way to our 11:30 which was the jungle boat. We then had lunch (concession stand. We had a reservation and cancelled because it was a character lunch and my kids weren't into characters, would have been a waste of $). We then did our last fast pass for it's a small world. Then we did the little mermaid ride and dumbo. Then a huge storm rolled in so we went to our condo for naps. Then came back after dinner with a fast pass for pirates of the Caribbean. Then we did Winnie the Pooh and buzz again!

You can book your meals on the app as well. We booked a couple the day of. So if you get the app soon you would book your meals no nownproblwm and it's super easy to change them too!

We brought some snacks and drinks. Bought lunch and popcorn and Starbucks. We were there mid march so it was a busy time but honestly didn't seem busy. The lines were short. The longest was the race track thing at 30 mins. And buzz without a fast pass was 20 minutes. The rest were super quick :) we lucked out maybe that it was a cloudy day calling for rain.

TouringPlans will answer a lot of your questions for you. They're definitely worth the $15. They'll give you detailed line wait estimates for the specific times you'll be going. We can't really answer that as it varies so much by date.

https://touringplans.com/

You can bring food and drinks in. Just be careful about the size and type of cooler you use. Here's a link.

My family is traveling to Florida in May. We will be staying off site (rental house) and going to the Magic Kingdom for one or two days. For reference we will have 8 adults and 4 children (6, 3, 2, 1).

1. Which rides should we get fast passes for (family friendly rides we can all participate in)?
2. How long on average are the wait times for the family friendly rides?
3. We do not have any restaurants booked (other than Chef Mickey on a different day). Will we need to plan on eating our in park meals at concession stands?
4. Can you bring in food (un opened bottled water, kids snacks...)
5. Any other hints or advice would be appreciated!
