Sorry that happened to you and your LO. If it makes you feel any better, my LO fell off the bed a couple weeks ago. I felt horrible even though he seemed fine just like yours. These kids are not as fragile as they seem! (I'll never leave him on the bed again though, even if I'm only 3 feet away! I had to learn the hard way apparently.)

Aww... poor D and poor Mama! I've heard stories like that from all my mommy friends. I think your guilt and scare affects you more than him. But I can only imagine I'll feel as sacred when that day comes too! Hope everything goes more smoothly the rest of the weekend!

Oh! Falls are so gut-wrenchingly scary, aren't they? Lorelei has had several and every time they make my heart stop. Sounds like you have a great doctor (want to share?) and your son is doing just fine. Here's hoping for a much less eventful week for your family!

So our Father's Day weekend didn't start off so well! This morning, D woke up around 5:30, so I got up to nurse him and get him back to sleep. He nursed for about 4 minutes and then fell back asleep, so I laid him down in the crib. As soon as I laid him down, he woke up and I picked him up, knowing he was (obviously) still hungry. Right as I was getting the boppy ready, he spit up on me, and it went down my shoulder and back. I laid him on the footrest of the glider while I quickly cleaned myself up. I turned away from him for a split second and I heard a thud. I turned back to see him flop down on his belly and hear a second thud....and then the screaming. I rushed over to get him, and he screamed for about 30 seconds, but then was fine. I was hysterical, though. Hubs came running out of our room, and I had to hand over D because I was shaking so hard. D seemed fine - he was laughing and giggling like a minute later. But I called our pediatrician, and she said he was probably fine, but to take him to the ER to get him checked out.

So at 6am, we were on our way to the ED. The doctor did a thorough exam and since we felt his behavior was normal, he wasn't too concerned. He said the only way to ensure there was no problem would be to do a head CT, but the amount of radiation is very high, and he usually will only do them if the baby is showing abnormal behaviors. So he dishcarged us with instructions to keep an eye on him and bring him back in if he started acting strangely.

I'm not entirely sure what happened, since I didn't see him actually fall, but I think he must have kicked himself backwards off the footrest and landed first on his head, then the rest of his body followed and he ended up on his belly. It was absolutely terrifying, and I didn't stop crying until the doctor patted me on the shoulder, assured me it happens all the time, and D was going to be just fine.

We're 14 hours out from the fall and he is still doing great - same smiley happy little boy he always is. But OMG, it was SO scary!
