We saw it last Saturday and thought it was great as wll. I was pleasantly surprised because I thought it would revolve more around the war/Lincoln's life than the passage of the 13th amendment.

Mrs. Bee and I went out for a late night movie tonight, since Bee's mom is in town and can monitor the kids while they sleep.

Lincoln was great!! Dang, Daniel Day Lewis was Lincoln. I though Joseph Gordon-Levitt was miscast as Lincoln's son, but Sally Fields was great. James Spader was spectacularly corrupt, and Tommy Lee Jones had some great insults too. I was happy to see S. Epatha Merkerson in a small role too... I miss her every Wednesday night.

Watching Lincoln was a reminder that sometimes one person's belief in something can make it reality. Although from the critical reviews, the movie puts too much emphasis on what Lincoln and the Representatives did, and not enough emphasis on the self-emancipation of African-Americans themselves. I think it's a very fair criticism... Spike Lee made a similar critique of Amistad.

Anyone see Lincoln yet?
