@Foodnerd81: She still manages to be 50th centile for height and only 25th for weight! On Friday, at daycare, she ate FOUR salmon sandwiches for her tea!!!

That is awesome for you guys! Hopefully your sleep will catch up with his ;)

We've been giving him dinner since he was ~7 months, and his night sleep is getting better, but he does not sttn yet. I know that that's partly due to co-bedding, so I'm kind of zen about it. Or maybe I'm mistaking sleep deprivation for zen, haha!

@Foodnerd81: that's what people still tell me at 9 months old & I'm like, she nurses an hour and a half before dinner, then has a lot of dinner, & then an hour to hour and a half later she nurses again & will still want to nurse 1 to 4 times a night....rice cereal my ass.

Lucky you! Solids made no difference in mine's sleep habits. I'm jealous! But it is also fun to all eat dinner together, glad you're enjoying!

@Cherrybee: that's a lot more than c gets. Our schedule is more like:
7- milk (still bfing so I don't know how much)
11- milk
1- lunch (solids)
3:30 (or whenever she wakes up from her nap)- milk
5:30-6:30 (depending what time she woke up and nursed, and what we are doing)- dinner (solids)
7:15- milk

It's not intentionally loaded more heavily in the evening but that's how it's worked out, just with our regular routine. I could probably add a snack or breakfast but that seems like extra work. #lazymommy

@Cherrybee: Is your LO about nine months? You are actually doing more solids throughout the day then we do (I don't always do snacks, but some days I do if he seems hungry for more than just milk) but feeding him dinner and getting him a nice full belly before bedtime made the difference. I think he was just getting hungry overnight-the milk filled him up, but didn't keep him full. Now we all eat dinner together before he goes to bed.

@tlcbaby: What other meals does your LO eat?

Here is my LO's day:

7am: Porridge and 200ml milk
10am: Snack (toast/crumpets) and 200ml milk
12.00: Lunch (solids) and water
3pm: Tea (sandwiches/wraps/fruit/veggie sticks) and 200ml milk
6pm: Bedtime bottle 200ml

Do you think we should introduce another solids meal? At, like, 5.30pm?

We had a similar experience. Not right away after she started solids but once she started really eating more, she started STTN. But it was still 3 months after her first starting solids. (I'm sensitive because I got so sick of hearing "oh as soon as she has a little rice cereal in her tummy she'll STTN".)

he sleeps through the night! A few weeks ago I asked how many meals everyone was feeding their almost one year old LO's and I realized I was pretty much the only one not doing solids for dinner. He nurses so much still and I always heard that solids at this point were not how they were getting most of their nutrition so we were still eating dinner after he went down for bed.

Well, it was like magic - it has been two weeks and he has slept until between 4am and 6am before waking up. Usually I nurse him and try to get him to sleep for a bit longer. I am actually the one not sleeping through the night now because I am still waking up at his regular times.

No more Mommy and Daddy dinnertime, but it is kind of fun feeding him dinner with us and finding out what he likes. Total "duh" mom moment, but maybe I am not the only one and someone else will learn from me. :)
