Wow. We're going to travel 2,000 miles w/ our baby (she'll be 4 months) in August b/c we're moving halfway across the country. I'm terrified that the trip is going to be disastrous. It's good to hear that you managed to pull it off with *4* kids, and lived to tell the tale!

Thanks everyone. It wasn't exactly a fun trip but we tried to enjoy it. Good luck to everyone who is planning a trip in the future. It can really be fun to see kids experience new places.

I did a couple of things. I have three toddlers and an infant. For my toddlers I let them buy a backpack that they picked out and a new non leaky water bottle. We put some new toys in there (a doddle pad, some books, stickers and a slinky) I also brought a ton of snacks (non refrigerated and ones that don't melt.).

We look up on parks and recreation websites to find city parks along the way. We planned a stop about every two hours so I could nurse the infant. We had a park/meal playplace every other stop, so four hours of driving.

We had one night one the road then we were at our destination. So I packed one bag for all of us for the one night. Everything else went into other suitcases that We packed into the bottom layer of the car. We bought the boys slumber bags so in the hotel they each had their own "bed" which was really just their slumber bag on a couch. The infant slept with my husband and I in the bed.

I also had a bag under my seat of an extra outfit for each kid and shirts for us in case of accidents. I was glad for this because we ended up using it when one of our kids had a leaky diaper. I also had plastic bags stashed around the car for dirty or wet clothes.

We bought some of those milk boxes that don't have to be refrigerated so that worked out well.

If I think of some more tips I will let you know

Seriously I don't know how you do it! Do you have any tips? In a couple weeks we're driving 2000 miles + roundtrip for a wedding. This will be our first big roadtrip with two kids, and I'm getting nervous about it!

Well we made it back. We put over 2,000 miles on my car but we made it. As we were driving out we found out that the grandparent we were going to see had passed away. So instead of visiting him We ended up at his funeral. So it was a rough trip. We did manage to keep all four kids relatively happy by going to parks and activities but it was definetly nice to get home.
