@QBbride: We were down to two nursing sessions around 12-13 months - we offer water throughout the day and milk at meals. I wouldn't offer a bottle at this point! It took quite a while to get her drinking milk, but she eats lots of yogurt and cheese, so I didn't worry too much about it. Now she has a decent amount of milk with her meals.

We didn't wean at 12 months but when we did start dropping sessions, I didn't replace them with anything, because he refused WCM.

I start giving a cup of milk in place of nursing. Then it just turned into offering the milk all the friggin time because Xander only drinks a couple ounces at a time. But I started with dropping a nursing session and giving milk in it's place (and also at meals because he never drank as much from a cup as he did from nursing/bottles).

@QBbride: I was confused too at first :) after he turned a year I started offering milk with meals and water in between. Then I started weaning. DS still nurses morning and before bed at 18 months.

unless he really loves his bottle, i would go with a straw or sippy cup so you don't have to wean from the bottle later! that is what we did (but my LO hated bottles with a passion).

@MamaJ: I'm soo confused. I've been offering water with meals and throughout the day, should I be offering milk instead?

We just went with a cup of milk at mealtimes. I didn't want to have to bottle wean later.

LO is 12m tomorrow (wahhhh!!!) and he is down to 3 nursing sessions (morning, after daycare, bedtime). When I stop the afternoon session (soon) I'm not sure whether I should try to replace with a bottle/straw cup of milk (so far I haven't been able to get him to drink cow's milk) or just make sure he has lots of solids including cheese, yoghurt etc.

Any advice? Thanks!
