@pelikila: Thanks so much. I think that is a great idea to allow the reduction of milk help to curb babe's appetite. She's not too keen on drinking from cup or bottle (except water) so it will be a hope and a prayer getting us through. Today she stopped bfing to pause and clap her hands for the milk. Hmmmmm this will be harder than I thought.

My son weaned completely at 9 months, but only because I wasn't able to produce enough milk to keep up with him while he was at daycare. I'd suggest if you want to wean off of the day time feedings, try to give bottles of breastmilk instead of breastfeeding for some of those feedings and try to pump only to relieve pressure, not empty the breast. It should help reduce how much milk you are making so baby will have to work harder (over time) to get a full feeding and the bottle will be easier, so possibly preferred. At least this is what inadvertently kind of happened for me. As my milk production went down, my son would get frustrated and throw a fit instead of working harder since he knew there was an easier way to get what he wanted.

My babe will turn 1 year old in 2 more weeks. I want to start weaning the daytime feeds. I think b/c she's likely milk allergic/intolerant I'm a little more nervous. So I'll be giving her soy, at least until our dr. appt at the end of the month. Plus she's liking the milk A LOT and even is starting to pull at my shirt lately. So anyway, my plan is doing the 9am, then a few days later 3pm, then 12 noon a week later. AFter that, I don't care if I have to continue BF'ing for the rest of the feeds until the cows come home. :D It's just the daytime ones I want to take care of.

DOES ANYONE HAVE TIPS, REASSURANCE and/or EXPERIENCES you want to share? I'm just a little uncertain here....
