@Sammyfab: OK, will def. try this instead of practically begging LO to wake up! And also I think it will really help me stop the work pump.

@mediagirl: For me, the funny thing is that LO doesn't really ask for a nursing session. I just keep offering in the am and pm, and he goes for it. I'm not quite ready to drop those, but can't see them going much longer.

@pregnantbee: so, so true. I don't know how to stop either! She's addicted to her after evening and overnight feeding. The morning one we could toss if I wanted to.

I second the suggestion to hand express! Every time I've woken up super engorged and uncomfortable I've just squirted a bit in the sink until it feels 'comfortable' and my body regulated the next day!

@mediagirl: Yup, breastmilk in sippies. I wish I could donate my milk, but I'm on meds and can't. :( We haven't really started him on whole milk. Not sure if I will, as he likes plenty of other things that contain lots of calcium.

@junebugmama: Congrats on the job! I think I could hand express a little in the sink as I start dropping the full mid-day pump break. Can't wait to stop lugging the PISA to work every day!

Amazing how hard it's been to both start AND stop breastfeeding.

@pregnantbee: I just recently started working a part time job that has me away for 7 hours 2 days per week. He doesn't "need" it, so we aren't replacing it with pumped milk, so I just started going into the bathroom and letting a little go down the sink lol. It's certainly helped a ton.

@pregnantbee: lol I am curious, are you still giving him breastmilk in sippies? I just donated my milk, I quit pumping a while ago and we did a cold turkey transition to whole milk but I had a bit of a stash so I figured I'd give it to someone who needed it.

@pregnantbee If you don't want to do the pumping at night, you could always just hand express a little out, so that you get relief, but not fully empty the breast. That's the best way to get your body to cut down, without being uncomfortable.

@mediagirl: This is what I'm going to start doing. Freezer stash is out of control! I think I'm going to start pumping for shorter amounts of time during my 1 work pump. Hopefully I can be done with that by the end of next week.

@pregnantbee: if he wants something after that nap, you could offer him a sippy of milk! That's what my husband has done with M when I missed bedtime routine (2x in her life...). She was fine with it!

I know it's hard. The two times I missed bedtime, I was up at 1am, waiting for her to wake up so she could nurse b/c I was getting uncomfortable. She still wakes once a night...

@mediagirl: Hmm. I'm still pumping once a day because I was pumping 3x at work, and I just dropped the afternoon pump last week. I've been dropping one at a time for a bit over a month. Didn't want to go too fast. On the w/e he usually nurses once after his mid-day nap (1 nap a day!). We could prob. go without that session b/c he's just so distracted he doesn't seem to want to nurse during the day anyway.

@pregnantbee: I think as you drop feedings, your body starts to drop the amount of milk you produce. So I wonder if you dropped the mid day pump if your supply would go down a bit and you wouldn't be so full in the morning. Feel free not to answer my prying question but why are you still pumping once a day? Does he nurse mid day when you're home on the weekends?

I think if you start cutting out your pump sessions, your body will adjust and you will be more comfortable in the morning.

Hi everyone. LO is 13.5 months old, and I am a WOHM for 45 hrs/wk. I'm still pumping once a day around mid-day in addition to nursing once in the morning and again in the evening. I certainly don't want to jinx anything, but let's just say that my son has been doing pretty well with sleep.

I used to pump right before I went to bed (about 2-3 hrs after LO goes to bed -- began because I wasn't pumping enough at work for daycare bottles and then continued because I was too full in the middle of the night/morning otherwise), but I've been phasing that session out over the last month. Now I really try not to pump at night unless I really feel like I'm too full to be able to make it until the morning.

Now I've been waking up in the morning (or too early for me to actually get up for work in the morning), and I'm really, really full. To the point of almost wishing LO would get up already so I can nurse and get comfortable again. I'd still like to nurse morning and night for a bit longer, but any idea how to help my body regulate so I'm not so full in the morning?
