I was too scared to quit cold turkey. I EP'ed for 13 months, and I was still pumping 5x a day when I decided to wean. I took it slowly and still managed to have a few minor clogs (easily fixed with an epsom salt soak). It took me a full month, but I probably could have weaned in two weeks.

@coacheswife123: HAHAHAHA - sooo sad, but so true. I don't think L would take it at this age either - it definitely helped that she was only 5 months when I stopped.

@NovBaby1112: ha! that's encouraging!

@leelee: I'm so paranoid! I've only ever had one clogged duct and do NOT want one again. I haven't leaked in forever. I'm hoping I can just be done. I would love to leave the pump at home when we travel Wednesday for thanksgiving!

@swurlygurl: I tried to get LO to nurse the other day in an hour of desperation and he was like "what do you expect me to do with that deflated excuse for a boob". ha :)

i EP'd for about a month after LO went on her nursing strike. I went from 4 sessions to 2 sessions very quickly, and then went to 1 session within a few days. After that, things got so busy that I just didn't pump for 2 days and I never got engorged, so I just stopped! I think you will be fine going cold turkey.

You could probably stop cold turkey and have zero issues. I was really paranoid though and didn't stop cold turkey until I was down to 1 a day. Cabbage leaves help a lot!!!

I quit cold turkey! But, I was pumping for 6 hours total, and barely making 4 oz, so it wasn't a huge deal... haha. One night I decided enough was enough, and never pumped again. I did let DD 'nurse' once every day or two though for the next 2 weeks. She hadn't nursed in like 4 months, but she was just starting to get a tooth, so she liked the extra comfort. That helped dry me up.

Well, that escalated quickly. Less than a week ago I posted about starting to supplement and here I am trying to wean off the pump.

Ok - help me think through this . I pumped for thirty mins last night and only got 4 oz total. So I decided last night to just start weaning off the pump. So this morning I decided to only pump for 10 mins ( I usually pump; for 15 to 20) and only got 1 oz total. Soooo I brought my pump to work today just in case but I'm hoping I can just make it until I get home from work to pump again. I don't want to get an infection, though. I'm wondering if I can just quit cold turkey? I'm down to two pumps a day (every 12 hours) and LO takes all bottles!
