We dropped morning last because he was most attached to it. At night he was easily persuaded by a glass of milk. Hugs mama, I know how hard it can be :heart: :heart: :heart:

@Pirouette: yes, it's so great if they initiate... And yet It feels like she is growing up to fast. Even though she is nearly 19 months and this is a great time for us to stop.

@LovelyPlum: thanks. :happy:

Bedtime for us. It was a huge source of comfort for her and part of her bedtime routine, so it was the hardest to drop.

We dropped morning last. We got down to two sessions---morning and night. We dropped night first because she was used to nursing to sleep and we wanted to change that.

When we were down to bedtime and morning I thought bedtime would be the last but for us it was actually morning. Night nursing gradually was less nursing and more cuddling and then one night all she wanted was to rest her head on my chest and fall asleep. The morning lasted because she would wake up hungry. I gave her a little nudge by having breakfast ready immediately. After that she stopped wanting the am session too.

I did bedtime last since it was easier to distract her with breakfast and I did bedtime alone most of the time. Once I got to 14 months though, I could still be gone at bedtime and she would go to sleep easily. It was so freeing and extended our BFing journey because I didn't feel so tied down!

@Foodnerd81: :heart: LO didn't ask to nurse this morning, and i had to fight the urge not to ask her if she wanted to nurse before i left for work haha! I'll be SO happy if she initiates the weaning process (for real this time) on her own, but it's totally bittersweet.

It's 7:30 am and c hasn't really asked for her milk this morning. I'm sure she would happily take it if I offered but in just going to see how it goes if I dont. And I'm sitting her crying a little bit. But in really happy if she is the one that takes the lead and I will still nurse her at night- and really really savor it! So bittersweet.

It was easier to drop the night one as she was distractable with bath time after. We didn't drop the morning one until after she turned two. She loves nursing when she is drowsy and waking up but it hurt so bad since I had so little milk and I was tired of it. She would ask for it and cry but by now she knew the concept of booby and broken so I kept telling her my boobys were broken which she seemed to understand. It's hard tho, I wish u luck and hope it isn't too bad for you!

@oliviaoblivia: stop. Now I'm welling up just thinking about it! Honestly, this morning (after I slept with her in the bed in her room) she was as interested in milk as she was in breakfast. I probably could have distracted her with breakfast but I just wasn't ready!

Miss A is still nursing at nap and bedtime and dropping her morning session was pretty easier because we just started getting out of bed rather than lounging around. I'm not sure what will happen once Squish arrives, I nurse to sleep and nap with A in the afternoon but girlfriend does love her evening "nummies" (and it might be easier for me to nurse her in the evening from a logistical point of view but we shall see!)

I'm hoping it will be the morning one last. Right now DH does the bath and bedtime routine and i found that worked better to help drop the night nurse. Also if LO wakes up in the middle of the night and I go in, I have to make sure not to give in and nursr her, but just to say "it's cuddle time or back to the crib". That's the toughest part for me!

@Tidybee: I'm secretly afraid she will drop it faster than I'm ready too.
She is cuddlier in the morning too, and I do feel like she gets more actual nutrition from that one. But I agree it would be much easier to distract her with breakfast.

We aren't quiiiiite there (down to a quick 5 minutes before each nap and then the morning and night session), but once I get the nap ones dropped, I'll be dropping the morning one, leaving the night one for last. I feel like the morning one will be way easier to distract her for (other food/drinks/toys/etc.). Plus, night cuddles are awesome. ;)

If you weaned gradually, which session was the last one to drop? We are down at wake up and bed time now, at almost 19 months. I wanted to let LO take the lead but at this point I think I may have to nudge her a little.

On one hand, when she wakes up early it's nice to stay laying in bed and let her nurse (she's kind of slow- I get an extra half hour in bed that way), but then again, it means I can never sleep in. At night, I like knowing she fills up and isn't hungry, even if she didn't have a good dinner, and she gets so happy when she sees its time for milk. But it would be nice to be able to go out at night without worrying about that.

I know there is no rigt answer, just curious.
