So sorry ❤️ I too passed everything at home. Scooped it out of the toilet, showed my husband and flushed it.

I hope your ultrasound shows that everything has passed and you can TTC again soon take time to be sad if you need to. Hugs. ❤️❤️

Miscarried last night.

I woke up last night around 2:30 with really bad cramps. My back hurt and it felt like I had to poop but couldn't. The cramps felt like really bad period cramps.

At 2:40am, I had an urge to push or bear down. When I did, I felt a "gloop" slip out of my body. It looked like a small piece of liver. I put on some gloves and fished it out of the bowl to see if that was it. I washed it and inspected it, kind of mesmerized by the science on my hand. Then I felt another urge to push, I looked down and realized I was bleeding all over the bathroom floor. Great.

I went back to the toilet and beared down, another "gloop" came out. I fished it out and rinsed it.

It appeared to be two halves of a sack. I couldn't tell what part was the amniotic sac, although I think I saw a clearish bubble, but couldn't make out anything inside.

So probably a blighted ovum, or the baby stopped growing at 4 weeks or something.

Immediately after passing these two halves, my cramping subsided. It wasn't ALL gone, but the intensity was. It was just a dull ache afterward.

I was in shock though, didn't know what to do with the pieces after looking at them for a while. I woke up my husband and told him "it happened", and he shot up out of bed and asked me if I was okay and how I was feeling. He asked me why I was holding it and I said, "I don't know. I wanted to look at it but now I don't know what to do with it. Do I flush it?"

He said, "just treat it like a regular heavy period." I agreed but asked him to flush it because I couldn't.

So he took the container from me and went to flush it. I took two Advil and went back to sleep.

I feel better today. Cramps are on and off, maybe once and hour, and no where near a painful as cramps leading up to the miscarriage. I'm still passing blood, but it now seems like a medium period. I'm not bleeding through any pads or anything.

I had a small headache when I woke up, so I'm running on Advil today. I'll be resting. Monday is my scheduled ultrasound so we'll see if anything is left over from the miscarriage. Then we plan to get back to TTCing as soon as I stop bleeding and if my HCG levels are low enough.

Because I never had an ultrasound, I won't ever actually know the cause of this miscarriage. But I'm really glad its over. I'm also really glad it didn't happen at work.

For those curious, going through or have gone through the same thing. I'm going to type out my miscarriage timeline for reference.

5 - 7 week Miscarriage Timeline
February 1 - BFP after missed period for 3-4 days.
- Symptoms included: feeling hungry and full at the same time, can't eat more than a few bites, IBS symptoms (constipation, diarrhea, gassy), excessive saliva, tender breasts, some cramping, frequent urination, backache (I have a retroverted uterus).
February 2 - big fight with mother, got emotional and stressed, same symptoms as above, vaginal itchiness/swelling, bloating, increased thirst.
February 6 - blood test confirmed pregnancy. HCG level 6205.
February 8 - new symptom: ACNE break out
February 11 - EXTREME fatigue, and a feeling of "zoning out" during dinner time. In hindsight, I think this was when my body registered that the pregnancy was not viable.
February 12 - EXTREME fatigue / zoned out feeling continued at work. Second blood test results came back from a different lab. HCG level reported to drop to 4388. The receptionist who delivered this news implied I was miscarrying. I felt blindsided and had to look up what dropping betas meant online. Radio silence from them over the
Valentines/Family Day long weekend. I was incredibly sad, stressed, and anxious.
February 13 - Deep down, I knew something was wrong. I didn't "feel pregnant" anymore. Realized my symptoms have gone away except for backache and some slight cramping. Breasts were significantly less sore. I had a dream of baby girl's face that night.
February 14 - Some of the symptoms came back a little, so that eased my concerns. Sudden increase of libido (although that remained unfulfilled because I was so anxious), frequent urination, white discharge, headache, bloating, cramping, backaches.
February 15 - brown spotting began on and off.
February 16 - Third blood test results back back. HCG dropped to 2315. Doctor informed me that the pregnancy is non-viable I am going to miscarry and expect bleeding soon. Spent the day curled up in my room crying. Gave myself until the closure of my miscarriage to grieve. Promised myself to move on soon. Brown spotting continues.
February 17 - brown spotting gets heavier but on and off
February 18 - brown spotting gets heavier and its pretty constant
February 19 - passing brown clots, cramps are no longer on and off, cramps become a dull constant ache. I think it will happen tonight or tomorrow. Later on in the evening, clots are tinged red
February 20 - 2:30 am, I wake up to bad cramps, and miscarry 10 minutes later.

How I found out I was miscarrying: through HCG blood test
Ultrasound?: Not until after miscarriage
Cramps?: increasing in intensity up until miscarriage - feels like really bad period cramps with urge to poop/push
Bleeding: started out at brown spotting, became brown clots, then tinged red, then looks like a regular heavy flow period.

Time I started spotting until the time I had my miscarriage: 5 days.
Time spotting turned red until the miscarriage: within 12 hours.
Time it took for miscarriage to complete: less than one hour

Could I tell when the miscarriage had passed?: yes
How?: passed two noticeable "gloops" (like a squishy smooth golf ball sliding out, can't control it), immediate subsiding intensity of cramps

@stiletto_mom: I'm sorry you are going through this. I've had both a natural miscarriage at 6 weeks and a D&C at 9 weeks. I actually begged my doctor to allow me to skip the D&C because I was dreading the surgery, anesthesia, time off work, risk of scarring, etc. I wasn't really given the choice because of the concern for infection and the amount of tissue they anticipated I had. I will say that the D&C recovery was better than I expected. However, the natural miscarriage was much less disruptive to my cycle (ovulated 2 weeks later) and schedule (neither my husband or I took off work) and any discomfort was adequately managed by Advil. Neither are great options but if given the choice, I'd probably still elect to allow it to happen naturally since the D&C is in fact a surgery and some people do experience complications, scarring, etc. Just a thought.

When I think I'm all cried out, something triggers and I'm heartbroken again.

Numbness would be a lot better than this.

Dark brown spotting today, heavier than last few days. I think it will be soon. I don't want to do it naturally. The worst is if it happens at work. I'd rather have a planned and scheduled D&C. Luckily in Canada it's easy to access.

If my OB won't do it, I can go to a clinic and get it done free. But I'll wait for the ultrasound first.

@stiletto_mom: at 5-6 weeks, you likely would not need a d&c and it would likely be a faster recovery and easier if you bleed. (I say this as someone with a 6 week miscarriage and a 12 week miscarriage).

I'm so sorry you are going through this. As others have shared, many of us have been there, we are all here to support you. I would absolutely be looking for a new dr, there's no excuse or reason to be treated with so little compassion during a very hard time.

So sorry. It totally sucks. What sucks even more is how poorly you have been treated by the receptionist and now the doc. He can't promise he will call?! Wtf kind of Bs is that?! I would be blasting them all over social media and review sites it is so unacceptable! I hope it's over quickly for you and you get your sticky baby soon. Please find a new doc next time though - no one deserves that type of treatment, especially not when going through a devastating time.

@stiletto_mom: I'm so sorry that the news wasn't good. It's gut-wrenching. I had 2 miscarriages, both ending in D&C, so I'm here if you have any questions. Be kind to yourself. Indulge. Cry. Distract. Wallow. Do whatever you have to do to get through it. You WILL be ok. ❤️

I truly hope you consider finding another doctor. It is hard and a process but they are not fulfilling their duties. It's despicable and you don't deserve it. I can't believe your doctor:
1) was stupid enough to accidentally email you. I would reply so that she feels like a total dumbass when she realizes what she did.
2) that she would lie about being in the office
3) that she can't guarantee a call to a patient who is miscarrying!!! Who the F does she think she is? That is her job!
4) that she clearly isn't upset by the nurses email chain with you! She thinks nothing is wrong with it!

Once again, you deserve so much better! I'm not sure if this is a product of the healthcare system (she just isn't motivated to care or help you) or if she's just an asshole. Probably both. I would be at their office causing a scene. Disgusting.

Thanks everyone for sticking around my thread. Your words mean a lot to me.

I just want this to be over so we can start st square one again. I have to go in for weekly blood. I have an ultrasound next week. If there's no heartbeat I'll probably opt for a D&C if I haven't started bleeds by then.

I think it's time I accepted what's happening and toughen up. I know many of you have been down this road. It was such a blindside and I was so stupid happy and naive.

I'm so, so sorry that you are suffering a loss and that all of this unkindness has happened around it. Though it can't make it better, I'm sending big hugs! :crying:

I'm so so sorry for your loss. As a Canadian I know how hard it is to find a new doctor... but I would be trying pretty hard after this. What an ass.

I am so sorry you are going through this. I am incredibly angry on your behalf at how your doctor is handling this. What an awful way to treat a patient. I hope you decide to find a new doctor after this because you deserve some compassion and to be treated better. Just awful.

I'm so sorry you are going through this and I'm so sorry the whole thing was handled in this manner. I had a very similar experience back in June where my beta levels were rising too slowly and then eventually started dropping. I was told to come in for an emergency ultrasound on my moving day just so they could confirm that the pregnancy was not ectopic (even though I begged to come in the following day instead). After the ultrasound, a nurse practitioner sat down to discuss with me what appeared to be happening and answer all of my questions immediately after the ultrasound. A few days later I started spotting and then I miscarried. I got daily calls from the nurses at the practice for the first few days to make sure I didn't need to come in again, tell me how to deal with the discomfort and bleeding (take Advil, no tampons), etc. Anyway, I just wanted to share another experience with you because it seems like this whole thing has been handled somewhat strangely and it doesn't really seem like you are getting adequate attention. Hugs to you.
